Job Description:

Christian Community Presbyterian Church (CCPC) is a Christian congregation that seeks to worship God, grow in faith and community, and place our gifts in the service of Jesus Christ.  CCPC will be adding a Contemporary Worship Service to better serve our congregation and community.

 

Our caring faith community is seeking a Contemporary Worship Leader who is an innovative, energetic, relational individual to develop, implement, and grow our Contemporary Worship Service. The ideal person will have a passion for worship, and bring fresh ideas on leading others into meaningful worship experiences. The person will also have experience leading, singing and playing an instrument in a church or similar environment as well as the ability to identify/develop/nurture other musicians. The Contemporary Worship Leader will work under the direction of the Pastor and Director of Christian Education and in cooperation with the Worship Committee of the Session.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan and lead the contemporary worship service including appropriate musical and verbal transitions between worship elements in consultation and partnership with the Pastor and others involved in worship.  The candidate must be able to lead worship vocally and instrumentally.
  • Work with the Worship committee to design worship services and special creative elements, i.e. dramas, faith stories, spotlighting announcements, etc.
  • Develop and lead a worship team.  Establish worship, vocal and instrumental team building: recruit, disciple, grow and educate.
  • Lead an efficient, well-organized, and fun weekly Worship team rehearsal to work on music for the upcoming service, new music, arrangements and parts, and goals, with input from the group member.
  • Read scripture and lead in prayer.
  • Utilize a mix of new, current, local, and traditional songs staying current on US trends in contemporary worship music.
  • Build positive social dynamics and quality music.
  • Work directly with the Director of Christian Education to support the youth ministry and special events.
  • Ongoing interactions with the Pastor to discuss worship themes and maintain a trust-based working relationship.
  • Collaborate with Session and Staff to enrich the worship ministry of church and promote cooperative relationships among its many people in ministry.
  • Regularly communicate with Session and the congregation.
  • Participate in staff meetings.

  • Outstanding written and verbal skills. Excellent program management and problem solving skills

 

Experience:

  • Experience in leading contemporary worship
  • Ability to actively engage worshippers through exhortation and song
  • Have vocal and instrumental gifts
  • Be able to chart/arrange music
  • Experience coordinating volunteer efforts
  • Experience working with youth and adults from a wide variety of theological perspectives and backgrounds

 

Compensation/Benefits

Part-time Position 15 to 20 hours weekly


Salary Range: $15,000 to $20,000 to commensurate with level of experience.

 

Must pass criminal and CPS background check.
