Job Description:



The primary purpose of the Video Production Lead is to oversee the development and execution of both pre-produced video content and live video execution for the purposes of IMAG and live streaming. It is the responsibility of the Video Production Lead to create an environment for creativity, storytelling, and excellence within the area video production. The Video Production Lead should be an artist who will:

• Be an artistic storyteller who can approach stories in creative ways.
• Move people emotionally and to action through storytelling and creative content.
• Inspire the viewer while also inspiring and building a team of volunteers.
• Raise up and empower volunteers to accomplish the vision.
• Communicate the vision of Cypress Church with excellence.
• Lead the way to creatively push boundaries in the use of video.
• Effectively guide the heart to move the mind.


The role of the Video Production Lead is to direct and lead the Video Team and functions as part of the overall Creative Arts and Communications team. This requires a firm grasp of the beliefs, values and strategies of Cypress Church. The Video Production Lead must have the ability to design and implement a proven growth strategy for all areas of responsibility and align the Video Team strategies within the mission, vision and values of


The Video Production Lead must be passionately devoted to the Cypress mission: to lead people to Christ and provide steps to follow Him and also to the Core Values of the church.

Responsible to: Creative Arts Director


General Responsibilities
• Lead a variety of video productions through the process of conceptualization to post-production.
• Work alongside the Creative Arts Director to maintain the vision and cultural direction of the use of media as it supports the vision and direction of the Creative
Arts and Communications Department and, in turn, the vision and direction of Cypress Church.
• Plan, set, and oversee goals and measurements for each area of responsibility to ensure growth and continuous improvement. Plan, communicate, and celebrate wins with the team.
• Work to develop job descriptions with roles and responsibilities for Coaches (for the care of volunteers), On-Ramp Recruiters (for volunteer recruitment and placement), leaders, and volunteers involved in ministry. Build the team through recruitment to
accomplish filling these roles and developing those who are selected to fill them.
• Oversee all training systems, events, and training manuals for the ministry ensuring that all training information works within the Cypress Church systems and guidelines.
• Plan and lead personal and team leadership development. Develop systems to raise up leaders, equip them with necessary skills and develop them within the team.
• Continuously provide ongoing creative, innovative ideas and direction and strategies for ministry area within the context of the Creative Arts Department and the Cypress mission and community.
• Conduct on-going research for new ideas, growth, better execution of strategies, etc. for ministry.
• Plan ahead and work within all Cypress standard operating procedures and communication guidelines to ensure consistency of brand, mission, strategy, communication, etc. (If SOP is unknown, work with the Creative Arts Director to find or develop a system to benefit all ministries)
• Work alongside the Creative Arts Director to develop, write, implement and overseeCampus Constants for Ministry.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities:

 Creative Planning for Worship Services
• Contribute to brainstorming and creating the weekend worship experiences alongside the music and other creative teams in line with the vision of the Church.
• Participate in weekly evaluations and planning as a part of the creative team.

 Volunteer Equipping and Development
• Train volunteers, leaders, interns, and residents in the art and technical practices of video creation in its variety of stages (conceptualization to post).
• Develop and pour into those volunteers, leaders, interns, and residents to raise them up to be better artists, better leaders, better men and women and better Christians.


 Oversee the various stages of Pre-Produced Video Production including (but not limited to):
• Conceptualization and Brainstorming
• Research
• Storyboarding
• On Location Shooting
• Directing Talent
• Interviewing
• Lighting
• Sound Recording
• Editing
• Color Correction
• Motion Graphics
• Output / Distribution

 Raise up and develop volunteer leaders within the department. These leaders will potentially lead teams that include (but are not limited to):
• Writing
• Creative Development
• Properties
• Set / Location Scouting
• Set Decorating
• Wardrobe
• Camera/Shoot
• Editing / Post-Production


 Online Campus / Content Delivery

• Oversee and deliver content for online campus. This includes shooting weekly videos with campus pastor and incorporating these videos with livestream or

pre-recorded songs and teachings from weekend worship. This online
campus experience will be produced weekly.

 Social Media / Web / App
• Oversee and deliver content for online communication.

 Live Production

• Recruit, equip, and develop a volunteer team for live video production at the
Alton Darby Campus and develop volunteer leaders within the department.
• Prep or oversee all systems and media files and presentations for the
weekend across all campuses.
• Schedule or oversee scheduling for all volunteers for weekend video

 Spiritual Development (Staff and Personal)
• Exemplify and provide spiritual leadership to all leaders and volunteers. Lead by example.
• Provide resources to Video Team leadership for spiritual development. Utilize resources that fit within the direction and scope of Cypress Church.
• Provide spiritual mentorship for each of the Video Team leaders and hold them spiritually accountable.


• Oversee and manage the Video Team budget. Ensure that all guidelines for expenses and purchases are followed by team members and that spending supports vision and strategy of the department (which in turn supports vision and strategy of Cypress Church.)

 Create strategies and systems to support multisite development and operation
• All of the above responsibilities must be performed with the strategy of multicampus systems in play.


Required Skills
• Knowledge of the technical operation and maintenance of video editing / shoot equipment.
• Ability to organize, train, and coordinate volunteer workers, technicians, and project/team leaders.
• Knowledge of (and experience with) Adobe’s Creative Cloud suite of software with emphasis in:
     • Premiere Pro CC
     • After Effects CC
     • Audition CC
     • Photoshop CC
     • Illustrator CC
• Experience in the field of video creation and production (all stages of video production that are listed above).
• Understanding of dynamics in worship and how media can enhance the worship experience.
• Ability to explain and teach complicated concepts in easy to understand terms for the novice volunteer.
