General Description

Calvary Baptist Church is looking for an energetic, ministry-minded individual to be responsible for the overall administrative leadership and direction of our vibrant and growing day school, Calvary Baptist School and Foundations Christian Preschool – www.cbschools.org, leading all functional areas in accomplishment of the School’s mission of assisting parents in their God-given responsibility of educating their children in a Christ-honoring environment.  The successful candidate will be able to balance the task of first and foremost being committed to the realization of the vision of Calvary Baptist Church while whole-heartedly accomplishing the vision of its school and preschool ministries.  Calvary Baptist School and Foundations Christian Preschool enroll students grades K3 through 12 and currently serve a student body of over 450 students.  In addition, Calvary Baptist School has a thriving international exchange program whose participants comprise 45% of the Secondary body (grades 7-12).

 

The Ideal Candidate

You have proven ministry experience specifically within the realm of Christian School Administration.  You have a passion for educating young minds and understand how to apply academic leadership principles to a Christian school environment in such a way that supports and combines commitment to biblical principles with academic instruction.  You have proven experience building and managing teams and are ready to talk about both the challenges and successes you have had.  Strategic planning and curriculum execution are enjoyable to you, and you are comfortable facilitating the process and driving successful collaboration efforts.  Your primary goals and gifting are in pouring into and strengthening the faculty and ministry workers on your team.  You understand you are a servant and not “number one.”  You understand it is not about you but about building up your team members and uplifting Christ so the young people we serve are well-educated and strengthened in the Faith.  You know how to defer to others while knowing when to take decisive steps to lead others to what God has.  You understand we serve the parents who entrust their children into our care; we aid them with the task entrusted to them by God.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for all aspects of Calvary Baptist School and Foundations Christian Preschool
  • Responsible to direct development of the curriculum, recruit staff, recommend staff employment and retention, promote staff development, and contribute to long-range school planning
  • Work alongside the Calvary Baptist Church official responsible for finance and related business functions to conduct activities involving spending, budgeting, HR, and legal matters pertaining to the School
  • Responsible to insure compliance with all regulatory agency requirements pertaining to the operation of a private day school and preschool in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • In concert with the Senior Pastor and Elders of Calvary Baptist Church build an effective methodology for translating the School's vision and strategy to align with the Church’s into actionable initiatives
  • Represent Calvary Baptist School and Foundations Christian Preschool in Church and civic activities

This role requires a mature Christian that exhibits the fruits of the Spirit and is dedicated to leading with a level head and good balance of grace and accountability.  You meet the qualifications for an elder as outlined in 1 Tim. 3.  You are a person of prayer with deep love for the local church.

You understand supporting Calvary Baptist Church is an incredible calling, and you are focused on investing this way with your gifts as you serve the School ministry.  You are comfortable working primarily in the School ministry to effect the overall health and operations of the Church as a whole.

 

A well-rounded team player

You are successful at working with and valuing different personalities and perspectives in the process of daily operations and direction setting.  You have had experience building and supporting cohesive teams.

 

Requirements

  • 5-10 years related experience
  • Experience leading teams and managing people
  • Bachelors Degree in the field of Education; Masters degree preferred
  • Church leadership experience
