  1. I.                  GENERAL

Job Title:   Director of Childhood Ministries

Location:   Leon Springs, Texas (suburb of northwest San Antonio, TX)
Position reports to:   Senior Pastor 
Salary range:   Part Time - $20,000 to $23,000, (Full Time - $38,000 to $43,000, potential in future)

Employment Status:   Part-time, salary, exempt.  Position will initially be part-time, but could work into full-time position in the future. 

Hours:   Part-time 20 to 25 hours/week, Full-time 40-50 hours/week

 

  1. II.                POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Childhood Ministries is a full time position with responsibilities for developing and directing the areas of ministry that develop children ages 3 years old through sixth grade, leading them to know Christ as their personal Savior.  The Director is also responsible for engaging, equipping, and encouraging parents in their God-given role as the primary spiritual influence for their children.  The Director will assist parents in the development of biblical parenting skills so that young families are grounded and are being raised in accordance with biblical principles and examples.  The Director is expected to design opportunities with the aim being for spiritual transformation to occur in the lives of our children through experiences of worship, discipleship, fellowship, service, and evangelism. 

 

III.                QUALIFICATIONS

A.     The candidate must be able to give faithful testimony and life witness of (1) consistent commitment to Christ, (2) spiritual gifting relevant to this particular ministry, (3) prior ministry experience with children and young families, with evidence of God’s affirmation on those ministries, and (4) and genuine, abiding love for children and young families.

 

B.     The candidate must be able to provide evidence of (1) adequate biblical education, (2) ministry experience appropriate to these responsibilities, and (3) a commitment to lifetime learning in order to become a more effective leader for children and young families.

 

C.    The candidate should have successfully completed a high school education, achieving a GPA of 2.8 or better relative to a 4.0 scale (i.e. achieved a minimum “B minus” grade level).  It is preferable, but not mandatory, that the candidate has successfully completed an Associates or Bachelor’s degree at a reputable school of higher education.

 

D.    The candidate must reflect a sound knowledge of the Bible, and life applications, and an ability to teach effectively, applying Scriptural principles in all areas of ministry.

 

E.     The candidate must have a demonstrated gift of teaching, and passion for teaching, relative to past performance and/or positions.

 

F.     The candidate must have the ability, and desire, to work cooperatively and lovingly with children and families, as demonstrated by previous employment, or volunteer, at church, seminary and/or other pertinent organization.

 

G.    The candidate must show a stable, mature, deepening relationship with Christ and must reflect an exemplary personal and family life.

 

H.    The candidate should exhibit a genuine love for children and families with a passion to see them flourish in the love of Christ.

 

I.       The candidate must be able to recruit and support volunteers and should have a history of success in working with volunteers.

 

J.      The candidate must exhibit an engaging personality that is appealing to children and adults.  He/she must be adept in planning, organizing, and executing various types of activities and events that directly address the spiritual needs of modern families.

 

K.     The candidate must have the ability to develop effective, engaging and exciting curriculums and activities for children and families; with a focus on biblical principles and the love of Christ.

 

L.      The candidate must be in agreement with the Biblical positions and must be a member (or willing to become a member) of Leon Springs Baptist Church.

 

M.    The candidate must be committed to the overall vision and direction of Leon Springs Baptist Church and must be willing to seek unity with other members of the LSBC staff and lay leadership within the church.

 

N.    The candidate must understand the expected qualifications of a church teacher and leader relative to the Bible (references New Testament books: 1Tim., 2Tim. & Titus) and can attest to being committed to exhibiting these qualifications on a daily basis.
