Job Description:

First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill, Georgia is seeking a full time Youth Pastor.  Below is the job description and qualifications:

The new Youth Pastor has the opportunity to “restart” the student culture at First Baptist Church Richmond Hill.  Although a capable communicator and teacher, the right candidate needs to be a pastor first.  They will help lead the students and church in authentic worship that puts the spotlight on Jesus and not on any one individual.  The Youth Pastor will need to be highly relational and be able to create an atmosphere for other leaders to develop appropriate relationships with students.  The candidate will need to understand hustle.  We are less concerned about office hours and more concerned about time spent with students in their environments.  We are searching for a candidate with an evangelistic heart to pursue students with the gospel to grow God’s kingdom and the ministry.  The Youth Pastor as a pastor is responsible to equip the saints to do the work of the church:  proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching the whole truth of scripture, engaging in meaningful relationships, lead discipleship, and providing leadership in these areas through teaching.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree from a four-year university is required for this position and a seminary or graduate degree is preferred.  In addition to the educational requirement, we prefer a candidate with two plus years of related experience and training.  Appropriate theological and doctrinal perspectives will also be required.

The ideal candidate will have an upstanding character of integrity, self-assurance, and high level of emotional intelligence, with a strong skill to scale.  Such key competencies will contribute to the successful execution for the following expectations:

  • Give complete support to the vision and program of FBCRH and coordinate all youth activities with the total Church program.
  • Plan activities and appropriate programming including large group functions, small groups, missions, camps, and events to provide opportunities for students 6th-12th grade.

  • Stays current with age appropriate Student educational methods and learning styles.
  • Oversee, recruit and provide adequate screening and training for all staff and volunteers for a fully functioning Student Ministry.

  • Serve as a spiritual leader for the church at large and specifically for everyone involved in youth ministries.
  • Provide pastoral care, counseling and hospital visitation to students.
  • Recruit, train, equip and supervise youth music and worship leaders in co-operation with the Worship Pastor.
  • Prepare and administer annual youth budget.
  • Mentor and train next generation youth leaders.
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor
