Job Description:

 

The Technical Director is an extension of the Director of Creativity and Production and is responsible for the technical production planning and support for campus-wide services and ministries. The Technical Director’s ultimate goal is that services and events across all facilities and venues are able to use technology effectively and strategically to enhance the experience of those attending. This position will assist in leading our ministry team by providing the highest quality AVL multimedia support as it relates to live, pre- and post-production.

 

 RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Manage all AVL equipment

            - Oversee the maintenance and operation of all AVL equipment on campus

            - Develop detailed knowledge of operation and integration of all equipment

            - Maintain AVL inventory

  • Equip and train both staff and volunteers on equipment in various rooms and venues
  • Assess future technology needs and collaborate with Director of Creativity and Production on future upgrades and renovations
  • Prepare stages and technical systems for rehearsals, weekly services, productions, and events.

            - Set-up, tear-down, and repositioning of equipment
            - Aim and Focus of lighting systems
            - Patching and pre-programming of consoles
            - Manage necessary input lists, stage plots, etc.
            - Computer Graphics preparation for service presentation

  • Assist Director of Creativity and Production in developing, training, recruiting and leading creative teams that include audio, lighting, video, computer graphics, stage management, and production

            - Develop, lead, and train creative and production interns
            - Teach technical skills to students within the Academy of the Arts
            - Oversee the administration of all weekend and special event production scheduling

  • Attend meetings as required by Creativity and Production Ministry
  • Serve ministries needing technical resources (Audio/Video/Lighting)

            - Worship Ministry
            - Family Ministry
            - Student & College Ministries
            - Concerts, Community events, etc.

  • ·Collaborate with and assist creative team in producing quality on-location and in-studio video shoots
  • ·Prepare/Create content for pre/post-production distribution

            - Pre-production multi-track audio recording, click track creation, etc.
            - Post-production studio re-mixing of special services and productions

  • Work seamlessly with Director of Media Services
  • Other responsibilities as applied by the Director of Creativity and Production

 

SKILLS AND TALENTS


  • Advanced knowledge of audio systems and large-format digital consoles

            - Knowledge of audio mixing for live and studio
            - Knowledge of Digico SD series preferred

  • Ability to mix audio for a wide range of music styles (Orchestral to Contemporary)
  • Ability to train volunteers on operation of equipment
  • Advanced knowledge of media and production for worship
  • Advanced knowledge in lighting for worship

            - Knowledge of theatrical and automated lighting for video
            - Familiarity with DMX programming
            - Knowledge with Jands Vista preferred

  • Familiarity of broadcast video environments
  • Understanding of proper rigging and safety
  • Ideal candidate is highly tech-savvy, able to learn and master new technology quickly
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • A teachable spirit and ability to collaborate well in a team environment
  • A gracious, Christ-like demeanor in all situations
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate teams of volunteers
  • Very strong skills in organization and attention to details
  • Have initiative, perseverance, and possesses a “whatever it takes” attitude

EXPERIENCE

 

  • Formal training in Audio and/or Technical Production of some kind preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in production
  • Must have broad hands-on experience with technology

  • Tithing at least 10% of the income earned from the church to the Mission and Ministry Plan of First Baptist Jackson
  • Support the mission statement of the church
  • Follow the guidelines outlined in the Personnel Manual
