The Church of the Resurrection is a Christ-centered, Spirit-filled, diverse community living out our vision to “Transform Lives with the Resurrected Power of Jesus Christ”. We are currently seeking to fill three distinct part-time positions within our Music Ministry:  Organist, Choir Ministry Director and Praise Team Leader.   Note that a candidate with a combination of any or all three gifts could be selected to fill more than one position.  All three positions are part-time, approximately 8-12 hours/week with a compensation of $12,000.00 per year for each position. Paid vacation, sick leave, workers’ compensation, wedding and funeral fees are offered.

Title: Organist (part-time)

 

Narrative Job Description:  This is a part-time position approximately 8-12 hours/week. Responsibilities include worship planning with the Rector and other worship team members for weekly service and other special services. Possess competency in playing organ, piano, and keyboard for adult choir and Children’s Choir for the 9:00 am service.

 

Position requires competency in playing the organ and piano for one service and two rehearsals per week.  Additional responsibilities to include Lessons and Carols, Blue Christmas, Christmas Eve, Epiphany, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and when available funerals and/or special worship services.

Organist and Choral Ministry Director can be combined. Ministry Description:

Work with a team of leaders to create a musical atmosphere that draws the congregation into

praise and intimacy with Christ.

 

  • Work with the Rector and other clergy, to select congregational, choral, and instrumental music for weekly service and other special worship services.
  • Meet regularly with the Rector, staff and other colleagues to plan, coordinate, and review the liturgy.
  • Work to recruit and mentor volunteer singers of all ages and experience levels. Uphold high musical standards while fostering a sense of teamwork, commitment, and joy through fellowship, mutual care, and spiritual growth.
  • Develops and communicates to the congregation, goals for the total music program through notices, advertising within the congregation and monthly newsletters.
  • Arrange for a substitute organist when planning to be absent.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the organ, pianos, and hand bells.
  • The Organist may use the facilities for private teaching and coaching.
  • Be involved in the life, ministry and mission of Church of the Resurrection to: Transform lives with the Resurrected power of Jesus Christ.
  • Committed to regular practice and musical development.

 

This position is under the supervision of the Rector; attendance at weekly staff meetings is encouraged.

Title: Choir Ministry Director (part-time)

 

Narrative Job Description:  This is a part-time position approximately 8-12 hours/week. Responsibilities include worship planning with the Rector and other worship team members for weekly service and other special services. Possess the ability to conduct, and teach vocal technique and responsible for choral direction for adult choir and Children’s Choir for the 9:00 am service.

 

Position requires competency in choral direction for one service and two rehearsals per week. Additional responsibilities to include Lessons and Carols, Blue Christmas, Christmas Eve, Epiphany, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and when available funerals and/or special worship services.

  • The Choral Ministry Director may use the facilities for private teaching and coaching.
  • Utilize volunteers to maintain the choral Library.
  • Be involved in the life, ministry and mission of Church of the Resurrection to: Transform lives with the Resurrected power of Jesus Christ.

Responsibilities include worship planning with the Rector and other worship team members for weekly service and other special services. Possess the ability to lead a team of musicians to provide contemporary music for the 11:00 worship service.

 

Position requires competency in leading a musical team (vocally and musically) for one service and one rehearsals per week. Additional responsibilities to include Lessons and Carols, Blue Christmas, Christmas Eve, Epiphany, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and when available funerals and/or special worship services.

 

Ministry Description:

Work with a team of leaders to create a musical atmosphere that draws the congregation into praise and intimacy with Christ.
