Job Description:

As a member of the Executive Team, the Director of Operations & Outreach (DOO) is responsible for providing overall direction for general church operations including finances, information technology, facility management, worship services, outreach and provide leadership and supervision to the staff in the underlying ministries in alignment with the vision set forth by the Senior Pastor. 

Reports to: Senior Pastor

Description of Duties

Church Operations [40%]

  • Ensure the operational readiness of the church through leadership, training, and oversight of the support staff performing duties in the following functions and pillar: Finance, Information Technology, Facility Management, and worship services (Come to Worship Pillar), and evangelism (Go to Reach Pillar).
  • Co-lead bi-weekly staff meetings and other activities designed to clarify and execute goals, objectives, and programs.
  • Serve as one of MCC’s intentional agents of unity across all staff, ministries, and functions to best fulfill MCC’s vision and strategic plan.
  • Interfaces with vendors on behalf of the church to ensure we receive the most competitive pricing and quality service available.
  • Leads the ministry staff in formation and recommendation of the annual ministry budget for presentation to the Senior Pastor & the Board of Directors.
  • In partnership with the DODHR develop financial reporting systems and assume responsibility for ensuring the responsible and efficient use of financial resources.
  • Execute all business contracts for equipment and facility leases.

Evangelism & Outreach [30%]

  • Responsible for building relationships with community leaders including pastors, business leaders, educators, and political leaders to strategically move the mission and vision of MCC forward.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of outreach strategies that align with the Sr. Pastor’s vision and meet the needs of the community.
  • Ensure that outreach efforts extend to the entire church body by establishing a center of excellence for outreach through MCC.
  • Ensure the consistent and quality execution of outreach on the following levels: personally, locally, nationally, and internationally.

 Strategic Planning and Leadership [30%]

  • Support the Senior Pastor in the accomplishment of the church’s vision and mission through ministry effectiveness, evaluation, discernment, decision making, planning and overall direction of church staff.
  • Provide input in vision casting and goal setting meetings.
  • Help define and facilitate strategic goals and vision as a member of the Executive Team.
  • Assist the staff in developing new ministry programs, as directed by the Holy Spirit, so that MCC is appropriately responsive to identified and anticipated needs and church growth.
  • Co-coordinate church planting or campus planting efforts as part of the Executive Team, including development of a strategy, networking with other church planting focused churches for funding and provision of other needed resources as well as identification, development, and leadership of lead church planters.


  • A heart for God that is evidenced by proven character and a spiritual-mindedness that understands that “apart from Christ we can do nothing.”
  • A strong Christian lifestyle demonstrated through application of biblical principles and aligned with the doctrine and teaching at MCC.
  • A shepherd’s temperament; servant-leader/mentor attitude and inclination.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and understand, motivate, and support ministry leaders.
  • Since we work primarily in teams at MCC, the DOO must understand group dynamics and ensure effective consensus building and decision-making.
  • Experience in a small group culture and developing small group facilitators and class instructors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills—ability to communicate persuasively and compassionately, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong biblical foundation for wise management in a church setting.
  • Personal initiative and diligence, which produces follow-through on tasks and proactive servant leadership.
  • Solid biblical/theological convictions, which are aligned with the MCC leadership.
  • A willingness to grow and adapt to the inevitable changes found in a growing local church.
  • Utilizes and implements ministry solutions through the effective use of computer technology, including social media.


  • 3-5 years of experience on a leadership team within a medium to large church context including experience starting and sustaining ministry endeavors and teams.
  • 3-5 years of financial management and/or accounting experience.
  • College degree (preferred).
