We are seeking a Pastor/Elder who is a skilled preacher and teacher of God’s Word, and will be, along with the other elders, a loving and devoted shepherd of our local body of believers, and desires to live and serve in our community here at Pollock
Pines Community Church.
MISSION AND PURPOSE:
The Pastor/Elder is responsible to work with our shepherding Elders to develop a ministry strategy for leading our congregation to grow in our love for God, for each other, and in making and growing disciples.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
He is responsible to be the primary teacher, developing and delivering messages that are biblically sound, applicable, and compelling. He is responsible, with the help of the Elders as needed, for the scheduling of all speakers and to work with
worship leaders to plan all worship services.
Serves as an Elder and is vitally involved with the Elder Team giving spiritually discerning leadership and direction for the church body, shepherding, equipping, building them up, working with them to develop leadership, and in carrying out the
collective decisions made by the Elder Team of which he is an integral part.
He is responsible, along with the Elders for the development, assignment, direction, and supervision of all paid staff. He will make appropriate recommendations for staffing as directed by the church constitution. He is responsible for staff
meetings, training, performance appraisals, and the development of a unified and effective team.
Demonstrate a sincere love for the body, understanding their needs and strengths and encouraging the growth of individuals who hold the various overseeing ministries within the church.
Provide short-term counseling in critical situations. Perform weddings and funerals with appropriate counseling as required.
The Pastor/Elder will be exemplary in the qualifications of an Elder as found in 1Timothy 3:2-7, Titus 1:6-9, and 1 Peter 5:2-3. He will possess a growing love for Christ, a consistent and vital prayer life, always be ready to defend and articulate
spiritual truth, practice personal holiness in his life and that of his family, and have a desire to glorify Christ.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Preference will be given to those with at least a Master of Divinity degree and several years’ related, full-time local church experience.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES:
The Pastor/Elder will have the ability to understand and communicate the entirety of scripture. He will be able to interpret and apply the scriptures to diverse groups and ages of people. He will be able to evaluate and analyze complex issues,
and together with the ministry leaders, make spiritually discerning decisions. He must have the ability to bring unity and offer peacemaking solutions for all stakeholders in a conflict.
