Church of the Highlands is located just south of San Francisco in San Bruno, California. The Bay Area is known for innovations that change the world. What happens here ripples through the nation and every walk of life. It is also known as one of the least
Christian areas in the country. With a rich history of impacting the Bay Area for Christ, we have never been more excited about what God is doing in us and through us.
Highlands is committed to being a unique influence for Christ – here and around the world. Throughout our 60+ year history, God has blessed Highlands in many ways which has enabled us to minister to tens of thousands of people through the life of our church.
With a weekend attendance of 1,500 and many programs purposed to bless our church and community, we know that there is still a lot of work to be done. We are an ethnically diverse, vibrant church made up of people of all ages and from all walks of life. In
recent years, we have built a new Youth Facility and launched a contemporary, outreach service aimed at bringing the Gospel to our friends and neighbors who do not know Jesus.
This position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience as a school teacher and/or church staff leader in children’s ministry (other relevant experience may be considered). Possession of a teaching or related degree is required (extensive ministry experience,
in some cases, can be substituted.) The successful candidate will be a strong leader with a solid work ethic as well as a passion for teaching children about God and developing them spiritually. They will also show a high degree of effectiveness while working
and communicating within a low oversight environment. A track record of recruiting, training and retaining strong volunteer leadership is preffered. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Google suite is also desired.
Essential Duties Include:
- Leadership and direction of all children’s ministry activities
- Volunteer and staff recruitment, training, and development
- Management and direction of classrooms
- Lead teaching and coaching of teachers
- Overall preparation for campus weekend children’s services
The S.F. Bay Area is known around the world for its temperate climate and cultural opportunities. We have several major professional sports teams in the area as well as miles of pristine coast line, museums as well as world class concert halls and venues.
Local universities include S.F. State, Stanford University and, Cal Berkley; which contribute to the Bay Area’s commercial and intellectual prominence. Recreational activities abound as winters are very mild. Mountain biking, hiking, surfing, fishing opportunities
are all literally just down the street.
