At Emmanuel, our mission is to engage people beyond our walls with transforming gospel truth. Strategically positioned in the Kansas City metropolitan area, the church exists to provide our community a worship venue where God’s redemptive message is clearly
presented and lives can be transformed. We encourage attendees to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ through meaningful connections with other believers and to live out their faith by serving the Lord with gladness as we impact our neighbors and
the nations for Christ.
Dr. David McAlpin assumed the senior pastorate in 2016 after serving a number of years as professor at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. A gifted leader, mentor and communicator, Dr. McAlpin is focused on equipping the church to minister to more
people within our geographical area. Our goal is to broaden the ministry reach from the current 600 persons (approximately 400 adults and 200 youth/children with an average Sunday morning worship attendance of 325) to a vision goal of 1,000 persons (average
Sunday morning worship attendance of 600) and are seeking a worship and media arts pastor who can provide the music and creative leadership necessary to expand our impact. Emmanuel enjoys an easily accessible location, ample facilities, a ministerial budget
of approximately $1,000,000, capable lay servant leaders, and a dedicated full-time staff of five persons that would make this opportunity an attractive ministry field for interested candidates. Emmanuel is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention
and its theological beliefs align with the Baptist Faith and Message as approved on June 14, 2000.
Emmanuel is seeking a worship and media arts pastor who, first and foremost, loves Jesus and is a person of character and integrity. The prospective pastor should be consistently honest and trustworthy, modeling an authentic Christian life. As leader of
our music ministry, we are seeking a candidate who can partner with our senior pastor to plan Sunday morning worship services and choose contemporary congregational hymns and songs1 that engage people and support the preaching of God’s word. The
candidate also would recruit, audition, teach, train, and rehearse musicians/choirs to serve the church with skill and humility. Our desire is to grow our music and arts ministry as an extension of community outreach with practical and relational opportunities
for all age groups. The successful candidate also would oversee media arts, which includes the A/V production team and the church’s website and social media platforms.
The successful candidate will ideally possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or a seminary degree, along with at least five years of leadership experience in worship, media, or creative arts. The candidate will be theologically
aligned with the church as described above.
Emmanuel recently celebrated its 53rd year of ministry. Over the past half century, Emmanuel has birthed new churches in our region, sent missionaries to unreached people groups, and engaged in missions work across the world, including closed
Given its proximity to major transportation arteries in the region, attendees span the southern metropolitan area. The most beautiful aspect of the church are its people. There is a high degree of diversity among its membership, spanning a broad cross-section
of age, race, ethnicity, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds. Members are united by the work of Jesus Christ in their lives and a commitment to passionately love God individually and together, purposefully grow in Christ in such a way where no one walks
alone, and profoundly influence people by meeting needs and making Jesus known to our neighbors and the nations.
