Senior Pastor – C&MA church in Northern New Jersey

 

Long Hill Chapel in Chatham, New Jersey is seeking a Senior Pastor to lead the congregation in a new phase of growth.

 

Long Hill Chapel has been used by God in amazing ways over the decades and has successfully planted a number of thriving churches in the Metropolitan District of The C&MA and launched missionaries throughout the world. After a season of declining attendance, the church has a new team of Elders and a congregation that is committed to: 1) seeking the presence of God, 2) being the family of God, and 3) advancing the kingdom of God. New teams have been formed, the congregation is engaged and a new senior pastor is being sought to help lead in a new season of growth. The church has actively teamed with the Metropolitan district in conducting a full health assessment and has crystallized its core values, based on how the leaders and congregation as a whole sense God’s leading and mission for the church at this time.

 

The church is positioned to make an impact on its suburban communities of approximately 140,000 people. It is located on a major street and is equipped with a large facility that will accommodate 550 in the sanctuary and includes significant classroom and office space and a gymnasium. Ministries include a Christian preschool, bible studies, small groups, Mothers of Preschoolers, college students, senior citizens and youth programs.

 

A Senior Pastor should passionately follow Jesus Christ as the Head of the Church and be the “quarterback” among a group of peer Elders who also actively oversee, lead and care for the congregation. He should desire to help lead the congregation to the next level of passion for Christ, proactive outreach, spiritual maturity, commitment to one another, and compassion for those who don’t yet know Christ. He should also be gifted in equipping others to serve and lead, in coordinating staff and ministry leaders, in caring for the congregation, and in reaching the lost with the gospel of Jesus. The ideal candidate will have lived in New Jersey, but this isn’t required. However, he should be able to understand and relate to the metropolitan New York City culture and have a demonstrated commitment to prayer, to the authority of Scripture and demonstrated reliance upon the Holy Spirit for guidance.


Minimum Qualifications:

-       Must meet the spiritual qualifications described in Titus 1:6-9 and 1 Timothy 3:1-7

-       Must demonstrate a leadership approach as described in 1 Peter 5:1-3

-       At least 5 years of pastoral experience, including experience in a multi-staff congregation

-       Completed Ordination and able to be licensed as a Christian and Missionary Alliance Minister

-       A Bachelor’s Degree (required), and a Master’s degree in divinity or theology desired

-       A desire to team with the Metro District churches and the overall ministry of the Metropolitan District and The C&MA
