Job Description:

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

  • High energy, passionate, charismatic with strong organizational skills
  • Love children and families
  • Have a heart and desire to work in children’s ministry as a way to serve God and advance His kingdom 
  • Strong leadership skills 
  • Ability to work with children, volunteers, staff, and parents to coordinate children’s ministry
  • Ability to make changes, corrections and solve problems quickly under pressure
  • Clearance of criminal background check 
  • Self-starter and high degree of discipline and strategic focus 
  • Oversee and manage birth through 5th grade
  • Teach and lead where needed and feel passionate

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:

  • Recruit and train Sunday, Mid-Week, and Special Event Leaders and Volunteers
  • Prepare and manage budget for children’s ministry
  • Manage the distribution and allocation of curriculum and supplies
  • Encourage and support all volunteers including planning and fellowship
  • Obtain, edit, and distribute curriculum/crafts/supplies for workers 
  • Schedule and coordinate placement of volunteer leaders and communicate with leaders as needed
  • Plan and support Children’s special events including marketing efforts—website, social media, print materials, etc.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of children’s ministry 
  • Participate in church staff meetings 
  • Lead a Children's ministry team
  • Participate in outreach to children and young families 
  • Communicate children’s ministry activities to the church through periodic reports and possible announcement/videos
  • Other duties as assigned

 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in children’s ministry and/or management of children’s programs required
  • Teaching experience/training
  • Four year college degree preferred 
  • Microsoft Office capability; Mac and Apple Products
  • Team building/recruiting/management
  • Strong organizational skills
