Position Summary:

Championing CR First's DNA by maximizing the effectiveness of the weekend experience through music and by drawing people into the presence of God through powerful worship. Leading and shepherding worship teams, overseeing all aspects of planning and execution in order to stay musically in line with the purpose of the ministry. Communicating effectively with other staff members, worship team volunteers and other volunteers that support and align with the worship ministry. Providing leadership to the creative process of First Assembly. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Worship Pastor must have a strong relationship with God, as evidenced by a healthy devotional and moral lifestyle.


The Worship Pastor must be an example of the type of Christ-follower that we want our people to become. They must:

  • Embrace First Assembly’s vision, approach to ministry and culture.
  • Hold to the Assembly of God statement of beliefs. (See Education/Credentials below)
  • Become a visible example and model for our congregation.
  • Be loyal both to God and the team at First Assembly.

The Worship Pastor must be someone that effectively develops personal relationships.

  • They must be authentic, joyful, and winsome.
  • They must be loving toward people, prioritizing others ahead of themselves, and engendering trust from those that they lead.
  • Embrace genuine Christian community as the primary vehicle of discipleship at CR First.
  • They must be inspiring, motivating others to sacrifice for God.

The Worship Pastor must be someone that communicates well informally.

  • Their interpersonal communications should be warm and engaging.
  • Their upfront communications should be both relational and inspiring.
  • Provides comprehensive support to the Lead Pastor that ensures professional, responsive and effective messaging that represents the organization as a whole to internal and external audiences.  

The Worship Pastor must be someone that excels as an action-oriented, team building leader.

  • They must be able to select, align and lead leaders toward First Assembly’s vision.
  • They must demonstrate excellence in leading the congregation spiritually.
  • They must demonstrate excellence in being a professional-level musician.
  • They must demonstrate excellence in developing audio, lighting & video engineering.
  • They must demonstrate excellence in training, empowering and releasing volunteer leaders.

 

Job Duties

Champion the Infusion of First Assembly’s spiritual DNA within the worship experience of our weekend and mid-week services.

  • Creative alignment with the church culture and philosophy of worship. (Disclaimer - our website is the the middle of a complete overhall)
  • Engaging, clear communication and spiritual leadership from the stage.

Draw people into the presence of God through effective, excellent and powerful worship.

  • Lead the teams that create worship experiences for all services.
  • Chart and arrange music in support of spiritual growth experiences.
  • Compose worship and special music and develop other composers (if gifted).

Provide leadership, coaching and development for musicians, audio technicians and other creatives within the worship community.

  • Expand the leadership base of the ministry by identifying, inspiring & mobilizing future leaders.
  • Provide strong spiritual, creative and musical direction/leadership of band, production and vocal volunteers during rehearsals.

Develop missional communities of creatives that build relationships, encourage spiritual growth and offer comfort and support through life’s difficult moments.

 

Participate in the Creative and Sermon Planning Team and contribute creative worship music ideas on a regular basis and as necessary.

 

Manage the Creative Ministry team and partner with other ministries to meet their needs. 


Create an environment that supports feedback, opinions and ideas from those in and around the ministry; as well as a culture that regularly seeks God and celebrates the fruit He has provided.

 

Education, Credentials and/or Experience 

College diploma required. Three to five years’ professional experience preferred. Must be credentialed with the Assemblies of God or willing and able to pursue licensing within three years. Language Skills/Technical Skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to speak effectively to large audiences. Must understand a healthy, professional utilization of social media. Displays excellent professional communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with guests, church attenders, vendors, and co-workers.
