About Heritage Church: A healthy, excited, growing Assemblies of God church in rural Virginia desiring to see God RESTORE to people the brokenness that life at times brings, GROW individuals relationship with Jesus, and HARVEST all that God has planned for individuals and our community.

Overview of Heritage Church:
- Estimated Attendance: 200+ with expectations to grow.
- Worship Style: Contemporary/Traditional hybrid worship.
- Snapshot of Heritage: We are in a season of God doing NEW things and preparing for those NEW plans. We love families and desire to see God change the culture we are living in through the example and life of godly families. We are a financially healthy church with no current debt and plan to begin our expansion in the Spring of 2017 to make room for growth. Heritage has a volunteer led food pantry that feeds over a 100 families from the community per week. Heritage also runs a weekly bus ministry that picks up kids, teenagers and adults to not only be fed spiritually but physically. We have two Sunday morning services that draw a variety of people from different backgrounds that are hungry for God’s presence and plans.

 

PURPOSE OF FAMILY PASTOR:

The Family Pastor is to help lead students (6th-12th grades), young adults and their families in spiritual restoration, growth, and evangelism with the leading and help of the Holy Spirit. They will help the Lead Pastor as a team member also provide leadership, development, and direction for family ministries and volunteer teams as it relates to the vision of Heritage Church.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, ABILITIES, SPIRITUAL GIFTS:
- Be a leader with evident anointing and calling to youth, young adults and family ministry.
- Creative and motivational.
- Have training in youth, young adult and family ministry.
- Have at least 2 years experience in a full-time ministry position.
- Four year college degree preferred, but not essential.
- Experience in recruiting, equipping, and maintaining volunteer leaders to minister to youth, young adults and families.
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal).
- A passion to see families grow in their faith together.
- Experience in family counseling is a bonus.

- Currently holds credentials. Licensed or Ordained preferred with an aligned denomination or church network (not necessarily Assemblies of God, but not doctrinally conflicted with Assemblies of God).

- Be a team player with a loving concern for the whole church, having a good rapport with all generations.

- Should model servant-leadership in the way he/she relates to the staff and the Pastor.

- Should desire to bear “much fruit” and have the mind-set to continually improve ministry to families.

- Have leadership, administrative and organizational abilities.

- Competency with technology, web and social media.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and lead all student ministry (6th-12 grade), and young adult ministry that include services, discipleship, evangelism,
  events.
- The Family Pastor works with the Kid’s Pastor and is responsible for the implementation and development of programming for the spiritual formation of students and equipping parents to fulfill their calling as the primary spiritual leaders of their students.
- Enlist and train adult volunteers to lead students to imitate Jesus and influence the world with the gospel.
- Conduct adult volunteer screening interviews to recruit the right people to serve in student and young adult ministry.
- Support the vision of the Lead Pastor centered around the Great Commandment and the Great Commission
- Assist in handling emergency situations as appropriated.

- Preach, teach, lead services as appropriated.
- Support the Lead Pastor in carrying out the ministry of the church; help as needed with administrative tasks, special
   projects/services/events/missions.

- Be involved in outreach and visitation.
- Maintains excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  with church leadership, staff, volunteers and congregation.

 

COMPENSATION:

Compensation will be commensurate with responsibilities and experience. Package includes salary, health insurance for Family Pastor and family, 2 weeks paid vacation for first year, and a Christmas bonus.
