Who Are We?
Ramsey Baptist Church has a rich, 104-year history of obedience to the Great Commission. Named after the rural township in which our church began, our heritage is one of of cherishing the teaching of God's Word and it's practical application to our daily
lives. Throughout our church's existence, we have sent several people into full-time ministry and enjoyed a lasting relationship with our network of affiliated churches called Converge Heartland (Baptist General Conference). However, over the past two
decades, our rural church family has experienced a steady numeric decline which, among other things, has been related to urbanization and major changes in the agricultural industry. Even though we have experienced numeric decline, we are debt free and have
solid financial footing. Today we are a small country church congregation that is looking to revitalize and reach our region with the good news of Christ in new and relevant ways.
Where Are We?
Our church building and parsonage are situated in a picturesque river vally that is located near Interstate 90 and ten miles north of Montrose, South Dakota. The larger cities of Sioux Falls and Mitchell are a 35-40 minute drive, with the city of Madison
just 20 minutes away. The economy of our region is based largely in agriculture, with many working jobs in related and supportive fields. With attendees coming from five surrounding communities, our church is geographically positioned to effectively reach
a "Tri-Country" region of 15,000 to 20,000 people within a 25 mile radius. This area of South Dakota has many hard-working and unchurched "cultural Christians" who largely express a conservative social value while faintly echoing their parents' and grandparents'
faith. Of course, our region also boasts world class hunting, with outdoor sporting opportunities all around. Interestingly, South Dakota is one of our nation's happiest states and the growing area of southeastern South Dakota is one of the most desireable
locations to live.
Who We Are Looking For:
We are praying for God to provide us with a godly man to stand faithful to the Bible and to serve as a revitalizing pastor. We are looking for a pastor and his family to journey in life with us and to lead us in relationally reaching the unchurched and effectively
sharing the gospel with those in our region. We understand that revitalizing changes are necessary, but we are looking for a leader who can also appreciate who we are, what we value, where we have been and who will lead us forward, together. We are an
aging congregation and so we need a pastor to help us reach the heads of younger households and to rebirth our once vibrant children's ministry. We desire to grant a full-time vocational release for a pastor to focus on this work of the Gospel ministry.
Please review our pastoral profile and prayerfully consider if you are God's man for this unique ministry opportunity in rural South Dakota. We are praying for you.
