2|42 Students Campus Lead (6th grade – 12th grade)

Reports to: Campus Pastor

Position Summary:


The 2|42 Students Lead is called to facilitate a meaningful, consistent, dynamic Student Ministry that recognizes and promotes the understanding that 2|42’s Ministry to students is a discipline of the kingdom of God into which our students are welcomed as full participants.  This person will coordinate the student departments from 6th grade through 12th grade at the Campus under the direction from the Campus Pastor and influenced by the Student Champion.  This person will be responsible for the execution of weekend services, small group lessons, assist in organizing Camps and events (such as Fall Weekend and Christ in Youth).


This person should also be able to execute the teaching at all campuses with excellence as well as lead out Volunteer and Leader trainings.  It is the responsibility of the Student Lead to be the main vision castor, communicator and programmer for all student activities at the Campus.

  • Three years total ministry experience or equivalent preferred.

  • Experience in working with student ministry trainings and workshops.

  • Significant experience in working with and recruiting volunteers.

  • Must be familiar with setting a scope and sequence for Bible lessons applicable to students from 5th grade to 12th grade.

  • An in depth knowledge of the Bible.



  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Master’s degree in appropriate discipline is desirable.

  • A commitment to continuing education is desired.




Vision Caster

  • The 2|42 Student Campus Lead is primarily responsible for executing a theological orientation for 2|42 Community Church’s Student Ministry as defined by the Executive Team at 2|42 Community Church.  This involves continually articulating the purpose, meaning, and direction of the ministry for the Campus.

  • Promote and maintain overall vision for the Ministry with consistent goals and vision.

  • Develop and maintain a youth environment that builds a strong foundation of Bible knowledge and Bible stories in an environment that is energetic, inviting and challenging.

  • Foster the formation of a community that is committed to communicating to our students that they are valued, providing them with instruction from God’s word, nurturing them in love, modeling our faith and encouraging their participation in the life of the church.

  • Ensure meaningful recognition and integration of students into the life of the church.

  • Assists in the Development of a yearly budget for approval by the Executive Team.

  • Create and Maintain calendar of events.  Strategically consider the seasons of ministry as events are conceptualized and executed in conjunction with the Student Community Champion.

  • Create and coordinate service opportunities.

  • Participates in workshops, seminars and conferences.

  • Coaching conversations with to ensure excellence in large group presentation, emergency procedure training and policy training.

  • Effective communicator to adults of all ages and able to connect multi-generationally.  



  • Be the “point person” for student ministries in the congregation.

  • Identify, equip, coach and provide care to celebrate leaders who in turn provide the same care for apprentices and small group leaders. Championing the Nine and implementing that into the strategy and systems of the Student Ministry.

  • Identify, equip, coach and provide care to Coaches, specifically in regards to celebrate leaders. Championing Coached & Coaching as steps of The Nine.  

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of an annual outreach calendar for each network under their care (ServeFest).

  • Provide pastoral care when necessary (funerals, hospital visits, Weddings).

  • Provide short term counseling to students and parents.

  • Serve as a visible and accessible leadership presence at weekend services.  Be the main face of the student ministries at the Campus.

  • Perform baptisms and champion baptisms at their campus.

  • Create quarterly volunteer hangouts.


Service Producer

  • Oversee Planning Center and ensure distraction free transitions within the programming.

  • Be the main Production specialist for Student Ministries at the Campus.

  • Main point person for graphics and arts requests including trello updates.

  • Main point person for marketing and promotion of Student Ministries.

  • Oversee ProPresenter and ensure smooth transitions

  • Oversee fun and engaging games and fun across the student ministries.

  • Create events with high production (Fall Weekend, Friday Night Lights, etc.) and attendance.



  • Assist Campus Student Community Directors in recruiting and training of volunteers.

  • Ensure that Campus Directors are equipped with up-to-date curriculum, supplies, materials, etc. for teachers and other volunteers.

  • Train Campus Directors on an ongoing basis for policies, procedures and safety classes.

  • Hiring and supervising of future Campus Directors, coordinators and other staff Ministry needs.

  • Coordinate bridge and move-up events from 2|42 Kids to 2|42 Students for the Campus.

  • Develop and maintain safety and security (physical, emotionally and spiritually) systems for students.  This includes background checks for all workers, recommend facility improvements to ensure security, and create and enforce necessary rules for safety and security.

  • Connects with new families in sending out weekly emails connecting parents to the ministry.

  • Work with the communications department to create exciting promotions and awareness of 2|42 Students across all Campuses along with updating the website.

  • Anything and everything the church may need you for (an “All In” attitude for ministry)

  • In charge of Student Camps, registration, promotion and safe transportation to and from.


Curriculum Development

  • As a member of the ministry staff, the Student Lead will be expected to support the vision of the church and integrate the vision through the entire student area.

  • Serve where needed.

  • Serves as a resource to parents for the spiritual development of their students and parenting.

  • Helps execute and evaluate 2|42 Students trainings including the Team Manual, Leader manual and any parenting and/or student classes.


First Impressions

  • Serves as the First Impressions Champion for all 2|42 Students.

  • Oversees the registration process and database entries of new families and students.  Creates Best Management processes for registering new students into the database.



  • Work with the Campus Pastor to help set & achieve goals who will hold you accountable to your goals.


As a Staff Member

  • Meet Leadership Expectations.

  • Attend quarterly Leadership Community.

  • Emails are to be answered within 24 hours.

  • An “Whatever it Takes” attitude for moving the mission of 2|42 forward.


Sacerdotal Duties:

The 2|42 Student Lead will report to the Campus Pastor and will become a member of our Campus Leadership Team. As such, this staff position will act in pastoral roles, such as: teaching, baptisms, funerals, communion, baby dedications, worship services, spiritual counseling, and administrative affairs of the church.



The successful candidate will have a deep and growing relationship with God, active involvement in the leadership of a church, and a commitment to maintaining healthy accountable relationships. A Christ honoring lifestyle marked by, servant hood, generosity, joy, a love for bible study and prayer. A growing passion to shepherd others in their walk with God and to work effectively with many key leaders is necessary. Integrity in finances, relationships, and time management is expected.



Outside of the expectations listed above, other leadership competencies are required: team building, vision-casting and training leaders for ministry; ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment; excellent working knowledge of the Bible; tactical thinker with proven ability to equip leaders and organize functional structures; transformational leader of leaders; effective communicator to adults of all ages; proven effectiveness in a multi-staff setting; able to connect multi-generationally.



All Ministry positions at 2|42 work in a team.  You will need to work well with existing team members and align to decisions that are made even if you don’t agree with them.  A good team member has open and honest conversations, allows tensions to exist within the team but always supports the team's decisions and directions outside of the team meetings.  Relational intelligence will be a key component to ensuring chemistry with the ministry teams.
