Position Description

 

Position:         Communication Coordinator, part-time with yearly funding

 

Reports to:       Administrative Manager

 

Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Communication Coordinator will be improving and performing Zoar's internal communication plan for both electronic and print platforms, and then increasing Zoar's visibility in the community.  This position is part-time at 15 - 20 hours per week and permanent.

 

About Zoar Lutheran Church of Perrysburg, Ohio

 Zoar Lutheran shares the heritage of the area, as it is one of the oldest Lutheran Churches in the area (established 1850).  The congregation is an intergenerational mix of young and old, with diverse programming.  Worship services reflect a traditional style, though blended with a variety of music incorporating classical, gospel, jazz, world and traditional.  The congregation is large, involved in mission projects locally and abroad, is working to place emphasis on youth involvement.  Recently, Family Circle magazine designated Perrysburg as one of the “Best Towns for Families” in the country and this could also be said of Zoar Lutheran Church.

Position Specific Responsibilities To Include:

1.      Develop a successful communication strategy, which is measureable, to further Zoar's mission.

2.      Create, produce, and/or assist with all marketing, advertising and public relations for Zoar.

3.      Identify and implement appropriate and effective uses of social networking tools to improve how Zoar informs and contacts all Zoar members of all ages.

4.      Develop and maintain a comprehensive electronic contact list which will facilitate both online and print communication with Zoar's membership.

5.      Up-date and maintain website content to ensure currency and accuracy.

6.      Edit, or when necessary create, Zoar's monthly newsletter and weekly bulletin announcements.

7.      Assist in coordinating and maintaining Zoar's main activity calendar electronically.

8.      Produce and/or edit electronic and print publications which showcase the ministries of Zoar for use with new members, guests, and external advertising.

9.      Design, edit, and/or oversee all publicity materials (brochures, newspaper ads, signs, postcards, web postings, etc) to maintain a consistent style and 'brand' representative of Zoar.

10.   Establish relationships with local vendors and service providers who can be utilized to produce communication materials which cannot be produced in-house.

Position Description

 

Position:         Communication Coordinator, part-time with yearly funding

 

Expected Position Qualifications

A.   Degree in Communications, Marketing, related degree, or commensurate experience.

B.   High skill level in:

a.    public and interpersonal communication including public presentations,

b.    written communication including exceptional use of grammar and word section,

c.    leadership including organization, delegation and collegiality,

d.    computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Acrobat,

e.    social network tools like Face book, Twitter, texting, and others utilized by Zoar members.

C.   Proficiency with design and/or publication software, specifically Adobe Creative Suite, Dreamweaver, and Flash.

D.  Proficiency with both Mac and PC operating platforms.

E.   Ability to work cooperatively in a small office environment or independently.

F.   A self-starter who follows through on work and pays attention to details.

G.  Experiences in web design and/or motion/video production is a plus.

H.  Attend a weekend worship service at Zoar a minimum of once per month, non-paid.

 

Position Employment Parameters:

1.      This is a part-time position.

2.      There are no benefits of any kind, expressed or implied.

3.      This is an hourly paid position using a time card type of report submitted twice a month to Zoar's Administrative Manager, Dale Nordahl, at her request. 

4.      Pay will be by check, paid twice a month, consistent with Zoar's normal pay periods.

5.      This position is funded for a minimum of 15 hours and not to exceed 20 hours per week.

6.      The hourly wage will be determined based on applicants knowledge and experience.

7.      There is no overtime pay at anytime.

8.      This position will be funded yearly, so it is a continuous position year to year.

9.      Employment is subject to positive outcomes for criminal background checks through finger-printing and substance abuse testing, at Zoar's discretion.

10.   The appropriate tools and budget for completing this job will be provided by Zoar and

all rights, equipment, and programs will remain the property of Zoar at all times.
