Job Description: Build an excellent and compelling organizational identity through a focused voice, and a clear, unified communications strategy that supports Mariners’ mission. 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Model servant leadership and provide oversight of multiple teams including digital, design, print, story, video, copywriting and social media
  • Develop and execute brand guidelines and materials that create a cohesive, consistent message from ministry to ministry
  • Manage and develop capabilities of Communication Department team members
  • Manage Communications Department budget to ensure best use of resources
  • Provide clear expectations and processes for ministries to ensure alignment with mission, vision, and brand
  • Develop a master communications strategy and schedule that supports the church’s story arc
  • Develop values and guidelines for internal and external communications for the church and ministries
  • Effectively prioritize and manage mission critical initiatives and projects
  • Maintain, track and measure effectiveness of communication vehicles through analytics 
  • Integrate with IT and Database team to focus on the most effective communication channels
  • Train staff to build and lead volunteer teams to support and enhance the work of ministry

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Strong assertive leader with relational giftedness 
  • Passionate about the Church as the hope for the world 
  • Minimum of 5 years experience leading a communications team
  • Proven track record of effective management of multiple teams in a complex environment
  • History of successful team building with various gift mixes – creatives, managers, programmers, etc. 
  • Strong influencer with ability to bring direction to various types of leaders
  • Integrated and mature spiritual journey
  • Church ministry experience strongly desired
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Position reports to the Experience Pastor
