CrossLife Church is a growing, dynamic group of people of all ages who are interested in connecting through uplifting worship, practical bible study, and active involvement in service. First established in 1869, the church began its process of growth in the 1990s. Pastor Mercer’s arrival during this period propelled the church into new heights, reaching 500 in regular attendance. Today, attendance has increased to 2,200 under Pastor Mercer’s leadership. With longstanding roots in biblical preaching, CrossLife continues to impact its believers and surrounding community through its central campus and satellite venues with the life-giving message of the Gospel each week.

About the Position:

The Middle School Pastor’s principle function will be to implement and carry out a vision to lead middle school students in a program of evangelism, discipleship, and ministry. This position will have the opportunity to shape and mold the ministry within the broader vision of the church. The crux of this role will be developing a dynamic program that lays the groundwork for connecting to middle school students and their families both in and outside of the church.

The prospect will bear a philosophy of ministry that is in congruence with the mission and doctrinal positions of the church, as they meet both logistical and practical ministry components of the role with competence. The successful candidate will also be a visionary who is attractional, and teachable with a passion for Christ, a motivation for excellence, and a humility that communicates under authority.

What We Are Searching For:

  • Proven history of growing a ministry, particularly in middle or high school ministry.
  • Skilled in identifying, attracting, and recruiting new leaders.
  • Experience in empowering people and leading teams of staff and volunteers.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Successful leadership experience in vision setting.
  • Able to administer and organize budgets, events, and ministry communications.
  • Capability of inspiring individuals, teams, volunteers, students, and parents, to achieve a standard of excellence through a collaborative effort.
  • Ability to teach, develop strategy, solve problems, manage conflict, and exhibit strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to handle conflict, and coach both students and student-parent relationships with truth and grace.
  • High energy, positive attitude, enjoys and exhibits a calling to work with youth and adults.


A bachelor’s degree in a related field, with a solid foundation of Bible knowledge is required. A minimum of 3-4 years experience serving on staff, in a church of at least 800-1,000 in average Sunday weekend attendance will be necessary. Such experience should derive from a Youth ministry department.

Located approximately 20 minutes from downtown Orlando, Oviedo is part of the Orlando—Kissimmee—Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. Charming, with hints of metropolitan culture, the city is rapidly expanding, and experiencing a growth spurt. Currently the population stands at approximately 34,965, of which 75 % are Caucasian, 12% are Hispanic, 8% are African American, non-Hispanic and the remaining 5% of the population are various races. Oviedo is a predominantly white-collar, transient professional community located in one of the top 10 places to live in the United States. Longstanding established employers in the region include Publix supermarkets, A. Duda and Sons, Inc., major growers of sod, the Oviedo Marketplace shopping mall, University of Central Florida—now the largest university in America with over 64,000 students. The rapid progress of the city is epitomized through the new Center Lake Park accompanied by an abundance of recreational activities that have tremendously added to the quality of life of the city’s residents.
