Who we are:

We are a multi-generational church with a variety of theological and musical backgrounds and experiences.  As such, we draw from music past and present (hymns to contemporary), in order to give space for all to connect with God through music.


Located in Gilroy, California, we are a city that celebrates community spirit, volunteerism, a rich farming history, cultural diversity and being home to the world renowned Gilroy Garlic Festival!  From golf courses, award-winning wineries, ancient redwoods, a new 54,000 sq. ft. vibrant public library, Gavilan Community College, an array of public and private schools, the Gilroy Parks and Recreation Department, nearby sports complexes, the Outlets in Gilroy, and a Caltrain Station, there is much to appreciate. I. Job Summary:

To prepare God’s people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up (Ephesians 4:12), with emphasis in planning, coordinating, directing and leading weekly worship music.


II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Part-time job/20 hours per week

• Designs and leads a service meant to resonate multi-generationally

• Designs weekly worship plans

• Plans and communicates worship plans to staff, worship team and church in a timely manner

• Collaborates, communicates with audio/visual tech staff in a timely manner in preparation of weekly services

• Oversees and leads one service each Sunday, and Special Events related to church calendar year

• Recruits and trains leaders that can lead ancient hymns to more modern forms

• Leads a mid-week band practice

• Participates in staff and ministry leadership meetings 

• Manages and structures music budget in collaboration with Worship Committee and/or Session

• Maintains professional standards and renewal by attending professional development with approval of Session, Worship or Personnel Committees

• Uses CCLI (Christian Copyright Licensing International) as a resource

• Performs other duties as assigned by the Pastor

• Uses Planning Center to communicate with staff and worship team


III.  Required Personal Attributes:

Applicant possesses physical, mental, interpersonal and creative qualities that enable him/her to effectively execute all duties that are typically encountered and reasonably expected while serving in the role of Worship and Music Director.        


IV.  Qualifications and Experience:

• BS or BA degree (preferred and desirable with music emphasis)

• Experience leading a variety of musical styles in multigenerational settings

• Plays a lead instrument proficiently

• Ability to lead and mentor worship team to be excellent and dynamic

• Strong organizational and people skills

• Possesses a positive attitude and ability to motivate and praise others

• Strong Christian commitment to serving as a disciple of Christ


V.  Compensation:

• *$35,000 - $40,000 range (negotiable and commensurate with education level and/or experience)

• Optional health insurance available

• Work schedule flexibility 

• Professional growth per approval
