Job Description:

The Bridge Church is a trend-setting church located in a small town and blessed with a big vision. This community of faith began as Cleveland Church of God in 1977 with only 12 people meeting in a living room. Today, The Bridge has 350-400 people attending its Sunday service, another 350-400 who watch live online, and nearly 700 people who call The Bridge their church home. In 2016, The Bridge purchased a 93,000-square-foot industrial building and currently occupies approximately 50,000 square feet of newly renovated space that includes a main auditorium capable of seating 700, large café, nursery and kids space (including auditorium), youth space (and auditorium), offices, and media/production room.

The Bridge is passionate about reaching those who are unsaved, unchurched, or "done with church." Their clear vision and strong commitment to their core values, along with their devotion to continually improve ministry strategies, make the church effective at connecting faith and life and helping people continually take one step closer to Christ and the will of God for their lives. While the church remains a part of the Church of God denomination headquartered in Cleveland, TN, The Bridge is also a member of the Willow Creek Association, and is a North Point Partner Church that shares their vision of being a church that unchurched people love to attend. They are doctrinally accountable to The Church of God but philosophically aligned with North Point.

Over the past 10 years, under the leadership of Pastor Patrick Ballington, The Bridge has become a major influence in White County and surrounding counties and has been recognized every year for 10 consecutive years as "The Most Involved Church In The Community" by readers of the local newspaper. Average weekly attendance at The Bridge has grown 18% over the past 5 years, compared to county population growth of only 4% during that same period, and 57% over the past 10 years compared to county population growth of only 18%.

The Worship Pastor/Director of The Bridge will have the heart of a pastor with visionary leadership and team-building skills to scale. The candidate will also be people-centric with an aptitude for administration. This individual will exhibit qualities of an influencer, relator, builder, and an achiever with a servant’s heart, along with the ability to offer creative and strategic input. The ideal candidate for the position will reflect extroverted qualities that communicate authenticity and approachability both on and off the stage. He or she will be familiar with and favorable toward the North Point Church model of ministry.

The ideal candidate for this full-time position will be an experienced worship leader with leadership skills and the musical and vocal performance abilities needed to communicate the Gospel and Biblical truths through songs in ways that connect the heart of people to the heart of God. The successful candidate will have the ability to read and perform music, lead adult and teen worship teams comprised of all volunteers, create environments conducive for unchurched attendees to encounter Christ and the Holy Spirit, inspire and nurture passion for Christ and continued spiritual growth in others, and identify and develop the musical and vocal talent of other adults and teens.

They will be responsible for the planning and execution of the music, singing, and creative arts components for adult services, as well as overseeing the planning and execution of the music and singing for the middle and high school services. They will also have input into the creative arts and media production. This individual will work closely with the Lead Pastor, church staff, production team, and worship team to create and implement strategies that improve the quality and effectiveness of ministry. A moderate to high proficiency in technical production (e.g., audio engineering, video, lighting, etc.) is a plus but not required. A candidate with these skills may be considered during the interviewing phase to consider fulfilling the role of Service Programming Director in addition to being the Worship Pastor.

While education is not a determining factor in the selection of a new Worship Pastor, the successful candidate must be one who has demonstrated 3-4 years of professional development and experience in worship ministry. A bachelor’s degree in a related field of study from an accredited Bible college, seminary, technical school, college, or university may be preferred.

This person will be committed to meeting and achieving the following goals during the first 24 months of work:

  • Increased audience engagement during worship
  • Increased levels of excellence being achieved across all worship venues
  • A fully developed, functioning, and expanding worship team and leadership pipeline
  • Systems developed to improve musical worship components of adult and youth services
  • Evidence of spiritual and musical growth among adult and teen volunteers
  • Worship and Creative Arts that are prominent ministries and a highlight of the church

White County is located in the northeast corner of Georgia, within a 30-minute drive of Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and the northernmost part of Metro Atlanta. Over half of the county is national forest, which makes it perfect for an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking, tubing, stream fishing, and mountain scenery. The county population is approximately 30,000, with a little less than 10% living in Cleveland. White County is also home to the popular tourist town of Helen, which is known for its quaint shops and Bavarian look; Babyland General, the birthplace of the Cabbage Patch Kids; several camp and retreat centers; pottery and folk art; and numerous award-winning vineyards and wineries. Agritourism and destination weddings are among the newest and fastest-growing industries in White County.

Over the last decade, White County has been transitioning from being a second-home and retirement community to being a work-from-home and bedroom community for those working in northern Metro Atlanta. A large part of its population growth is also a result of a migration of families from the northeastern U.S. to a warmer climate with scenic views and small-town charm. White County also has an excellent public school system that is ranked among the best in Georgia.

The Bridge Church is located just outside of Cleveland but serves all of White County and draws people from neighboring counties as well. Its vision for the future includes launching satellite campuses in neighboring counties.
