4. Ministry responsibilities listed in order of priority
(While some work may be delegated to others, the ultimate accountability for assuring that the following responsibilities are implemented rests with the Associate Pastor.)
a. Congregational Assimilation and Discipleship (50% or 20-25 hours)
i. Network and collaborate with all efforts of the church to ensure that adults are fully engaged in personal spiritual growth and service.
ii. Work toward maximum ministry impact by promoting discovery, development, and usage of spiritual gifts and abilities. Promote their ongoing development through conferences like Rekindle and the Global Leadership Summit.
iii. Provide meaningful fellowship and community by developing and overseeing a Small Group ministry that connects the adults in the church. This includes Sunday Morning Small Groups.
iv. Direct and provide training for strong Welcome Ministry Teams including: Ushers, Greeters, Welcome Table, Prayer Corner, etc. as well as the literature we hand out. Ensure that hospitality and follow-up are provided to newcomers.
v. Provide regular opportunities for church membership and baptism and lead these classes.
vi. Provide church fellowship events like adult volleyball, men’s basketball, game nights, BSU Rec. Night, Summer Picnic, potlucks, and so on.
vii. Provide for marriage and family enrichment retreats and seminars.
viii. Meet with various boards and committees as needed. Chair the Christian Education Committee.
ix. Organize the intergenerational Summer Sunday School ministry.
b. Community Outreach and Evangelism (30% or 12-15 hours)
i. Organize events and opportunities for the church to impact our unchurched neighbors, i.e. evangelistic events, movies, blood drives, Servants of Shelter, etc.
ii. Inspire and train the church in evangelism and outreach to the lost.
iii. Develop a follow-up plan for discipling new Christians in their first steps of faith.
iv. Provide encouragement and promotion of Men’s and Women’s ministries including events like the Men’s Wild Game Feed, Women’s Tea, BWCA trip, and Beth Moore Simulcast.
v. Promote congregational involvement to partner with Native American ministries.
vi. Promote involvement with community services like food shelf, Meals on Wheels, ReStore, etc.
vii. Oversee strategic use and content of social media and the church website.
c. Pastoral Care (10% or 4-5 hours)
i. Work with the Visitation Caregiver to minister to shut-ins, the hospitalized, and the elderly.
ii. Supervise the Visitation Caregiver and provide an annual job review.
iii. Oversee and arrange for officiating funerals, church weddings, and pre-marital counseling.
iv. Provide counseling as needed, referring long-term needs to outside counselors.
v. Coordinate use of the Benevolence Fund.
vi. Coordinate visiting members and new attendees.
d. Worship (10% or 4-5 hours)
i. In partnership with the Lead Pastor, work with the various Worship Teams, Technology Teams, committees, and musicians in giving overall direction and spiritual focus to the worship services.
ii. Participate in the worship services, including their planning, evaluation, and budget.
iii. Preach occasionally as requested by the Lead Pastor. Teaching and preaching is not a primary component of this role.
iv. Be “in charge” during the Lead Pastor’s absence due to vacation, illness, training, etc.
v. Oversee sanctuary multi-media and technology ministry and its staff and volunteers.
vi. Other duties as requested by the Lead Pastor.
