About the Organization:

Calvary Baptist Church is a transitioning church located in the heart of North Carolina in the town of Winston-Salem. As a multi-site church with five services at three different campuses, Calvary has an average attendance of nearly 3,000 each weekend. Their mission is simple, yet powerful: Connecting People to Christ and Community.


In 2013, Dr. Rob Peters became the Senior Pastor of Calvary, bringing a fresh energy and vision to the church. Since then, his goal has been to help people know and experience the Gospel so that they can experience the transformation that only occurs through faith in Jesus Christ. Under his leadership, Calvary Baptist Church maintains a reputation of excellence, pushing forward to serve the people of God with a deeper passion and, putting a high emphasis on evangelism, missions, discipleship, leadership development and community.

Those who attend Calvary come from a variety of cultural, social, and even religious backgrounds. Even though they are different in many ways, there is one thing that unites them, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.


About the Position:

The Campus Pastor for Calvary’s West Campus will design and execute strategic activities for the campus in congruence with the overall Calvary strategy. This includes leading and coaching staff and key volunteers, executing plans to evangelistically expand campus attendance, and relationally connecting to the congregation as well as the local community. The Campus Pastor must drive processes to achieve financial development, discipleship, and mobilization of the congregation of the West Campus.

In addition, the Campus Pastor will be the ‘face’ of the West Campus, regularly hosting weekend services and leading other key campus initiatives. This individual will be a strong leader and shepherd, and his Campus Pastor role will include the functions often associated with that of an Associate Pastor or, an Education Pastor.


Who We Looking For/Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree is preferred. A seminary degree would be ideal.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working as a Campus Pastor in a setting committed to reaching the unreached, working within a community, and promoting innovation through collaboration. They will show a high degree of effectiveness in leadership, communication, public speaking, and strategic planning. In addition, the individual should show an ability to connect multi-generationally. Overall, they will be marked by a high degree of effectiveness in leadership, communication, public speaking, and worship planning.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to initiate and implement plan of action.
  • Industrious in use of time and resources.
  • Dynamic communication capabilities that translate to weekend teaching.
  • Evidence of experience, skills, and giftedness, which can provide the basis for successfully achieving the purpose of the position.

It is home to six colleges and universities, including Salem College, the longest, continually running women's college in the U.S., the prestigious Wake Forest University, and Winston-Salem State University.
