Description:

 

The Lead Pastor is to provide spiritual, pastoral, and administrative leadership to the staff and congregation of LakeView Church. This includes spiritual leadership through example (modeling Christlikeness), teaching biblical truth, vision-casting, prayer, and leadership development. It is recognized that some areas of his responsibilities may be delegated to others, as he helps them develop their gifts and grow as followers of Jesus.

 

Accountability:

 

The Lead Pastor reports to the board of elders and is evaluated by the board of elders, but is ultimately accountable to the Lord.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Personal Spiritual Disciplines

  • Grow in intimacy with God as a sacred priority
  • Study and meditate on God’s Word for personal growth and sermon prep
  • Devote personal time to prayer, praying as the Lord leads

 

Preaching/Worship

  • Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in preparing sermons that are based on biblical truth, apply to real life, and create in people the desire to be wholeheartedly committed to Christ
  • Ensure that worship services are effective regarding content, style, and design
  • Incorporate the Gospel message of salvation on a regular basis in sermon content

 

Leadership/Leadership Development

  • Work with the board in maintenance of a compelling vision and act as the key champion for the vision
  • Lead the staff and ministry leaders, encouraging them as a team, and in their individual ministries, to contribute their very best toward realizing our vision and mission
  • Create, implement, and maintain a leadership process that strategically develops leaders
  • Encourage leaders to promote spiritual growth in their own lives and the people they lead

 

Congregational Relations and Pastoral Care

  • Inspire the congregation to spiritual maturity by modeling Christlikeness
  • Attend a small group as a participant, or lead a small group
  • Provide minor counseling, and refer those needing further counseling to professionals
  • Manage conflict within the congregation with grace and truth
  • Conduct weddings, pre-marital counseling, hospital visits, and funerals as needed
