Job Description:

 

The role of the Tech Director (TD) is to oversee all elements (audio, visual, and lighting) of tech production for Red Cedar Church under the direction and leadership of the Worship Pastor. Through AVL, the TD will help facilitate an environment that allows people to experience a worship encounter with Jesus Christ. The TD will give direction to our established Production Team and help carry out all tech components of worship programming including audio, video, and lighting throughout Red Cedar Church campuses and weekly programs. The TD will be a collaborative director who has a heart for God and people. The successful candidate will have a proven track record with the ability to recruit, train, disciple, and encourage volunteers that are a part of the Production Team to reach their full potential while being able to execute all technical aspects of the service. The TD will be the catalyst for recruitment and technology advancements within the Worship and Arts ministry of Red Cedar Church.

Program Planning: Responsible for all AVL tasks related to the execution of dynamic programs including, but not limited to, weekend worship services, RC Students, RC Kids area leadership events and other ministry programs. Oversight of our Stage Design Team.

Technical Direction: Responsible for overseeing all audio, lighting, and video technology for Red Cedar Church including maintenance, programming and suggested purchasing. Provide direction in all areas for Technical Arts.

Direction of the Production Team: Success in this role will be best accomplished by prioritizing an investment in ministry volunteers who in turn will help lead Red Cedar Church in creating a tech environment that will help engage the worshippers. Responsible for creating an environment that attracts, builds, connects, develops, and empowers ministry volunteers. 

Candidate Profile:

  • ?  You are a committed follower of Jesus with a passion for God’s Word and people; demonstrates a daily pursuit of a Christ-centered life.

  • ?  You have been working a minimum of 3 to 5 years as a staff member in a tech and/ or media role with a proven track record of success.

  • ?  You have a Bachelor’s degree preferable or extensive relevant experience in Production.

  • ?  You are able to build a budget.

  • ?  You are aware of the Force and it’s power against the Darkside.

  • ?  You embody the core values of Red Cedar Church.

  • ?  You have a strong work ethic and get it done mentality.

  • ?  You have skills in Gifs and Memes.

  • ?  You have been told at some point in your life that you have great ears for sound.

  • ?  You love working with people and you're not a lone ranger.

  • ?  You are a planner.

  • ?  You listen to music...good music.

  • ?  You would gladly attend a U2 concert with the Worship Pastor. (Even if that means

    it’s the Worship Pastor putting on his own U2 concert. TD not required to make Worship Pastor sound like Bono. Unless you know of that technology. In that case stop reading and pick up the phone.)

  • ?  You have great references.

  • ?  You are coachable/teachable.

  • ?  You are an avid learner.

    Key Responsibilities

    • ?  Review ministry environment and key ministry indicators to identify problems, concerns and opportunities for improvement

    • ?  Maintain equipment in all ministry areas

    • ?  Provide technical knowledge in the purchasing of, and maintaining of, AVL

    • ?  Stand at the intersection between creative vision and technical execution for the

      Creative Arts team

    • ?  Clearly communicate and execute innovative/creative stage and lighting design

    • ?  Prepare and submit a yearly budget

    • ?  Program video elements, light cues, and audio console for worship services and

      events as needed

    • ?  Lead Production & Tech team during services and events

    • ?  Ensure that the technical needs for events on church calendar are in place and fully

      operational

      Direct Report to the Worship Pastor

      Desired: Experience operating a large format digital console (e.g. Yamaha, Digico, Avid, & SSL)
