Position: Director of Student Ministries


Description: Gashland Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) is seeking a full-time Director of Student Ministries who will minister to 6th-12th grade students through discipleship, teaching, community groups, outreach events, summer trips and other activities. Recruiting and equipping a team of dedicated volunteers will be a key part of this ministry, as well as forming supportive relationships with parents, church staff, and ministry teams. We are looking for someone who is teachable, a self-starter, hard-worker, outgoing and who has a strong calling and passion to disciple students and see them grow in their relationship with the Lord.



  • Embrace the overall vision for Student Ministries set by the Associate Pastor of Discipleship
  • Oversee Gashland Student Ministry programs for grades 6-12
  • Weekly teach High School Sunday School
  • Weekly coordinate Wednesday night youth group
  • Plan summer trips for Middle School and High School
  • Attend extra-curricular student activities
  • Coordinate weekly High School and Middle School community groups and fellowship times
  • Weekly communication with parents through email
  • Work with the elder-led Discipleship Team to carryout Student Ministries’ responsibilities
  • Recruit, train, educate, and invest in ministry leaders/volunteers
  • Manage the Student Ministry budget
  • Attend Gashland services, being available before and after services
  • Attend weekly staff meeting, weekly meeting with the Associate Pastor of Discipleship, monthly Discipleship Team meetings
  • Comply with established church policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal and state laws
  • Other responsibilities as required



  • Growing disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ committed to biblical authority in all areas of life
  • Passion to work with youth and help them grow in their relationship with Christ
  • Ability to build relationships with parents, staff, ministry volunteers, and other school and youth workers in the local community
  • Reformed in theology and able to subscribe to the EPC Statement of Faith
  • Experience leading youth, staff, and volunteers
  • Demonstrated success in strategically planning and implementing ministries
  • Strong teaching skills and ability to develop age appropriate curriculum
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict resolution skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • College degree preferred
  • Willing to submit to a background check


Reporting Structure:

  • The Director of Student Ministries reports directly to the Associate Pastor of Discipleship and the Senior Pastor
