Job Description:

 

The Student Pastor is responsible for ministering to students, grades 7-12, and managing the Student Ministry Department at Lone Star Cowboy Church.  They will oversee the provision of high quality pastoral care to students and their families; ensure the equipping and training of the Student Department ministry teams; oversee the Student Department budget; oversee all student missions trips; and all communication between the Student Department and Pastoral Staff. They will report to the Executive Pastor.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administration and Communication:

  • Prepare and/or review internal and external communications for the Student Ministry.

  • Attend meetings: including staff and ministry team meetings as related to the Student Ministry.

  • Be knowledgeable of ethical and safe practices that minimize the church’s liability in the Student Ministry.

  • Provide resources, documentation and communication for leadership as directed.

  • Oversee the financial reporting and annual budget for the Student Ministry area.  Also, oversee the day-to-day stewardship of the budget with the help of the Administrative Secretary.

  • Oversee the social media communications of Student Ministry.

  • Provide ministry leadership and development for all ministry teams under Student Ministry.

  • Provide leadership, support and coordination of the staff’s activities within and related to the Student Ministry.

  • Coordinate and communicate with other ministry teams regarding the activities of the Student Ministry.

  • Utilize Fellowship One to accomplish ministry goals, track progress and provide accountability.  

  • Serve on the Pastor-On-Call (POC) rotation to meet the emergency Care needs of church members as they arise.

 

Counseling and Care:

  • Ensure that all requests for pastoral care by the student and families are responded to in a timely manner.

  • Provide pastoral counseling for students who are need of such ministry.

  • Perform funeral services.

  • Perform weddings as needed by the church.

Student Team Leadership and Development:

  • Collaborate with ministry team leaders to identify, recruit and train new Student Leaders and Adult volunteer team members.

  • Meet regularly with Student Leaders and volunteer team members for individual spiritual development, prayer and problem solving, including goals and objectives for each ministry team.

  • Provide leadership of the day-to-day execution of the Student ministry.

  • Oversee the day-to-day leadership of departmental paid staff.

  • Model life-long learning by continuing to grow in your personal leadership.

Other general responsibilities:

  • Lead events such as camps, retreats and mission trips.

  • Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Executive Pastor.

EDUCATION:

  • Bible College degree and ordination preferred.

  • High School Diploma.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience a minimum of 5 years in church ministry.

  • Experienced in developing and leading volunteers and teams.

  • Experienced in conflict resolution.
