Job Description:

Rolling Hills Covenant is searching for a new Director of Children’s Ministries who can help our church and volunteers develop ministries that will grow children in their love for Jesus Christ and his church.

The Church:

Rolling Hills Covenant Church is a 57-year-old church, located in the beautiful South Bay of Los Angeles, California. We are a dynamic church that seeks to reflect the ethnic, economic, and generational diversity of our community. We offer services in Japanese and Spanish; varying worship styles including gospel, choir and orchestra, and worship bands. A diverse preaching team, including our Senior Pastor Byron MacDonald and our Contemporary Service Pastors Shawn Hurley and Garrick Hanger lead our services. Large churches oftentimes have the resources to pursue what they find most important. For Rolling Hills Covenant, our core values are solid Biblical preaching, discipling through small groups, evangelistically sharing the gospel both here and to the nations, and caring for the full household of faith. There is a lot of joy, excitement, and unity in our church as we begin this search.

The Job:

Children’s Ministries has always been an emphasis and strength of our church. On an average weekend, over 400 children will attend a Sunday school program and learn about the good news of Christ. The Director of Children’s Ministries will develop and implement an exciting curriculum, engaging events, and oversee volunteers to help disciple children. The position is more than activity and safety; we are looking for someone to help us shape a philosophy of how we help children mature into life long followers of Christ. This position will not only oversee Children’s Ministries, but will also sit with other department heads on our Servant Leadership Team, which guides and implements the vision of the church. The position is vitally important to the entire church, and the Director of Children’s Ministries will be a contributor due to their proximity to both parents and children. In addition, this position will work closely with Lloyd Gilbert, our Associate Pastor of Student Ministries, to lead our students from childhood to adulthood in Christ

The ideal candidate:

First and foremost, we are looking for someone who demonstrates a call, gifting, and passion to help children encounter and grow in Jesus. We want someone who comes alive in the presence of children, and can help volunteers grow in their own faith as they help children grow in theirs. The ideal candidate will be both a developer of people as well as a gifted practitioner of Children’s Ministries. We want children to love coming to church so much that their parents feel compelled to attend so as not to disappoint them. We are looking for someone with understands and connects with children, but also can help parents through the challenges of parenting. There is not only room within this position to create and dream, we are expecting that the ideal candidate will come with ideas to grow and change an already excellent department. Given the scope and scale of this position, past experience leading a Children’s Ministry and theological education is highly desired.

This is a full time, benefitted position, with a salary in the range of 50k-75k based upon experience.
