About the Position:

The Lead Pastor position will be best fulfilled by a visionary servant-leader, who is gifted in nurturing healthy relationships and can effectively communicate the vision God placed in his heart for PHBC. The successful candidate will be a model of Christ-centered leadership for the entire congregation, and will demonstrate the leadership ability to strategically and collaboratively discern the ministry priorities of PHBC and empower its staff to further support the congregation in all areas of discipleship and evangelism.


Success in this role will be determined by:


  • Attendees being consistently challenged by God’s Word, so that it produces transformational growth and life change.
  • Increased volunteer base serving on Sunday mornings.
  • Increased number of baptisms.
  • Offering two weekend services as a result of attendance growth.
  • A larger number of millennials attending and serving in the church.
  • The development of a leadership pipeline that increases the capacity of current leaders, and through it, allows future leaders to emerge.
  • Creating a congregational desire to invite the unchurched and non-believers.
  • A clear-cut, unified vision of the future direction of PHBC.
  • Being receptive to necessary operational changes to improve the fulfilling of the Great Commission (i.e. changing methods without changing the message).
  • A streamlining process for ministries in place.

What We Are Searching For:

This position will be a teacher, leader, and pastor, in corresponding order of responsibility. For the purpose of effectively executing all position-related responsibilities, a bachelor’s degree from an accredited Bible college or seminary is required (and a master’s degree is preferred). The successful candidate would also have demonstrated several years of professional experience (likely 5+ years) in full-time ministry, ideally in a supervisory role.

Perry Hall is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place in Baltimore County, Maryland. The population contained within the city limits was 28,705 at the 2000 census. The racial makeup was 89% White and 5% African American, with growing diversity. With many schools, shopping centers, banks, and food stores, Perry Hall offers an environment of growth to its residents.

Perry Hall is a significant part of the greater Baltimore that boasts over 2.7 million people in its larger metropolitan area. The two largest employers in the Baltimore region are the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins University. Other large companies include Under Armour Inc., McCormick Spice Company, Cordish Company, and T. Rowe Price. In 2013, Forbes ranked Baltimore fourth among America’s “New Tech Hot Spots.” Baltimore is notable for the diversity of its people, and distinct historical landmarks including two major sports teams (Orioles and Ravens), Preakness Stakes, National Aquarium, Fort McHenry, Chesapeake Bay, and Inner Harbor, among others.
