About the Position:
The role of the Executive Pastor is to assist the Senior Pastor, the Executive Director of Operations & Finance, and the Directors of Ministry, in leading the charge and championing the vision of Cypress Church. He will help identify and act upon ideas that
enable each area and individual to operate more effectively, and, in doing so, to better fulfill the mission of the church. In essence, they will be a vision-carrier, administrator, and coach.
The next Executive Pastor of Cypress Church will join and complement a culture of tenured, self-motivated, influential, and result-driven staff that fuels the mission of the church. The successful candidate for this role will be organized and assertive,
display excellence in the area of ministry strategy and execution, be highly relational, and maintain a heart for people with different personalities, skill sets, and backgrounds.
What We Are Searching For:
This role requires strong administrative giftedness, along with excellent verbal and written skills, so the successful candidate must possess the ability to think creatively and innovatively regarding how to help the local church and its staff as effectively
as possible. The successful candidate must be a ‘strategist,’ progress and results oriented, and capable of turning ideas into action.
As the chief-of-staff, this individual will be responsible for accountability, development, and coaching of the staff team. They will be highly solution-oriented, so as to encourage, equip, and empower the staff to perform at their best. As the
primary overseer of ministry design and implementation, they will be an orchestrator of systems and pathways that strengthen and sustain the effectiveness of each ministry.
Although education is not a predetermining factor for the selection of the next Executive Pastor, a bachelor’s degree in a related field would be preferred. The scope of competencies for this position will include, but are not limited to:
- Substantial executive level experience in comparable organization(s), ministry or professional.
- Preferred background in a multisite church model with 1,500+ in weekly attendance.
- Possess extensive pastoral or life experience, with additional experience in leadership development, team building, delegation, and organization/administration.
- A strong history of leadership, complemented by a track record of setting and sustaining a church culture.
- Capability to design and implement strategic systems to facilitate steps for spiritual transformation to occur.
