MinisterSearch ( is delighted to provide an opportunity for a Worship Pastor to lead the contemporary worship service at a great church in a vibrant suburb of Dallas. This position will lead in a cultural environment that values authenticity/transparency and the church as a healing, not just learning, community. 

The sole goal of this church is to lead people into a personal and eternal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and then to help them become committed followers of Him. Connect, learn, worship, and serve describes the way they help people grow in their Christian faith. The Pastor of Contemporary Worship will provide leadership, direction, and oversight to the contemporary service each week. There will be the opportunity to continue developing the contemporary worship ministry and increasing its appeal, especially among the large contingent of young people/families in the community. 

The Pastor of Contemporary Worship will be a talented and skilled musician, have demonstrable success in developing other musicians, a shepherd/mentor, a team builder, and adept at using all relevant software. Additionally, the successful candidate will be a visionary, a strong leader and communicator, and a relational person who is a shepherd/mentor. 

In addition to being an innovative church, their location in a lovely suburb of Dallas is ideal. The city has a rich history, but has become known for being at the heart of a significant employment center, the telecom corridor area. It continues to be a vibrant community in which to live and work, staying current because of the local emphasis on economic development and neighborhood integrity.

  • Oversee the strategy and direction of the contemporary worship service.
  • Coordinate, lead, and be responsible for the planning, organizing, conducting, evaluating, and continued growth of all elements related to excellent contemporary worship, including band, praise team, drama, video, sound, sets and all worship arts.
  • Working with the pastor, plan Sunday morning contemporary service, creatively using multi-media that supports the sermon text and applications, creating a culture of worship and assisting in connecting each person with God
  • Plan all technical aspects of worship services as well as supervise and train sound, lighting, and multi-media technicians
  • Rehearse, equip, and oversee vocalists, instrumentalists, and tech team, as well as creating a heart for worship and training in those who are called to lead worship
  • Recruit, train, and develop new members for the contemporary worship team
  • Serve as a mentor and pastor by demonstrating a shepherd's heart in leading, feeding, protecting, and caring for all members of the contemporary worship ministry
  • Utilize all relevant software for communication, rehearsals, and services, including providing all needed resources
  • Maintain music library, materials, musical instruments, tech equipment, etc.
  • Arrange and provide music for special projects, ministries, and other church related activities as requested


  • Four-year Degree from an accredited College or University
  • Church staff experience leading worship including preparation and rehearsal of music, vocalists, and instrumentalists
  • Strong, demonstrated leadership skills which are apparent and consistent with a successful track record of developing other musicians and leading worship
  • Mature, growing believer with a clear understanding of the Gospel, as well as the ability to clearly communicate it to various ages and personalities
  • Ability to prioritize the direction of an excellent program of ministry through music while maintaining the focus of building hearts of worship among the worship team and the congregation
  • Possess both a deep desire for creating excellent disciples in the teams/church, as well as excellence in creative expressions of worship
  • Strong interpersonal skills, engaging, and able to lead worship with passion
  • Shepherd’s temperament; pastor/mentor attitude and inclination
  • Self-directed multitasker who is organized and prepared
  • Knowledge of and ability to use all relevant software to communicate with worship team and execute excellent weekly worship
