The Discipleship Pastor is called to lead, develop, grow and manage the discipleship model and infrastructure for Growth Track, J Groups, J University, and Journey Prayer ministry for both campuses.

Experience and Knowledge Required:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to do team ministry.
  • Exceptional communication skills in any size environment; 1:1, small, and large.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage large infrastructure.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate to advanced level in Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Highly proficient in Fellowship One and able to use effectively to manage groups.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Exceptional work ethic and commitment to excellence.
  • Proven ability to develop leaders and grow a groups ministry.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • General Growth Track Leadership:
  • Oversight of Growth Track leadership, curriculum, attendance, tracking, follow up and assimilation for both campuses.
  • General J Group Leadership:
  • Lead, oversee and manage J Groups | small and large group ministry
  • Guide mission of Transforming Lives through J Groups, J School and Prayer.
  • Promote and run J Group Launch for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters
  • Manage Large Groups with their own small group infrastructure – Men, Women, 50+
  • Manage Large Group events, retreats, etc.
  • Develop a leadership training path for group leaders via 1:1 mentoring and J Group training events
  • Actively recruit new leaders and coaches for groups and classes
  • Actively multiply groups when reach capacity
  • Actively start new groups
  • Maintain J Group Social Media content by collaborating with Social Media Director to ensure effective and on-going updates are scheduled & posted.
  • Keep J Group / J University Lobby Walls, Webpage and Church Teams current each week
  • Respond to emails or phone calls related to J groups in a timely manner


  • Small Group Coordination
  • Coordinate, create, communicate and maintain all small J Group semester timelines
  • Small Group campaigns/promotion – Collaborate with creative and design team (Banners, Brochures, E-Newsletter, Social Media, Slides, etc.)
  • Coordinate actions within small groups database each semester – open/close registration, create new semester, manage state and registration email
  • Coordinate, develop and prepare all small groups central emails to send
  • Coordinate Fellowship One data entry for small group leaders, co-leaders, coaches and coordinators each semester
  • Curriculum development – collaborate with executive and creative teams to develop, edit, and publish (print and/or electronically) any necessary curriculum or One Idea lessons
  • Leadership resources – create small group Leader & Coach Playbook
  • Assist with coordination and implementation of special events, projects, and initiatives
  • Coordinate with other departments (production, worship, creative, facilities, etc.) as necessary
  • Small Group Administration
  • Edit and approve groups in the small group database for Winter, Spring and Fall semesters
  • Coordinate and train small group coordinators and coaches to assist with editing small groups
  • Fellowship One Responsibilities – Winter, Spring, Fall Semesters
  • Enter attributes for all leaders, co-leaders, coaches, coordinators
  • Coordinate and train small group leaders and co-leaders to assist with data entry
  • Manage updates for resources, documents, and events on J Group webpage
  • Manage inventory, revisions, and/or development of small group print materials
  • Maintain inventory
  • Work with creative and media teams to design and develop
  • Obtain quotes for estimated cost
  • Complete Purchase Order Requests
  • Order print pieces


  • Large Group Coordination and Administration
  • Do the same as above for Large Groups

  • Marriage Enrichment
  • Responsible for recruiting, training, and appreciating teachers, co-teachers and facilitators
  • Responsible for submitting content for all PR and marketing both stage and social media-wise to promote classes
  • Maintain the calendar and attendees via Fellowship One.
  • Develop follow up plan to move attendees through J University classes.
  • Update and manage content for J University both on the website and lobby wall
  • Develop teachers, communicators and facilitators for J University
  • Expand curriculum and class options


  • Prayer Ministry General Leadership
  • Develop and lead Prayer Ministry strategy for Journey Church.
  • Develop and lead Prayer Team leadership via 1:1 mentorship and group training events.
  • Maintain Prayer Team database in Fellowship One.
  • Cultivate Prayer-rich environments at Journey:
  • Sunday morning Pre-Service
  • Altar prayer team In-Service
  • Core Prayer Team
  • Church-Wide Fasting and Prayer
  • Special Prayer Events
  • Communion Strategy for Journey
