Worship Pastor - Ministry Description

Are you passionate about combining fervent worship with solid theology?  Do you love the local church and want to help her innovatively present the Gospel to this generation?  Do you have a proven track record of equipping and multiplying others for worship arts ministries (do you enjoy raising up sons and daughters in ministry)?  Have you been described as creative, zealous, intuitive, imaginative, resourceful or artistic?  If so, you may be the right team member that First Church is seeking for our Worship Arts Pastor.


Something epic is happening at First Church of the Open Bible! Jesus Christ is writing a breathtaking narrative of redemption and restoration as He transforms one life at a time.   • Born again, Bible based, Gospel centered, Spirit empowered, and Family Focused. 
  • Believe and adhere to Pentecostal beliefs and distinctives (must be Biblically sound).  At First Church, our goal is to be known as Pentellectuals – “thinking Pentecostals.”  We are Spirit-filled and hermeneutically driven.
  • A team member who functions as a multiplier and equipper.  Be able to recruit and develop volunteer worship leaders and musicians (working yourself out of a job on some Sundays).
  • Have the ability to inspire people, impart vision, and keep a group motivated.
  • Have vocal and instrumental proficiency in a contemporary/modern music setting (preferably guitar or piano).
  • Be able to incorporate various musical styles appropriately.
  • Have proficiency in worship planning resources and digital management systems (e.g. Planning Center and Pro-Presenter).
  • Have a system to investigate modern worship music and keep a fresh rotation of songs.
  • Be able to operate well in a team environment, often working cross-functionally with other ministry teams.
  • Be a person of Christ-like and consistent character, be in one accord with the standards of First Church of the Open Bible, and submit to a thorough background investigation..
  • Commitment to and enthusiasm for the vision, values, and culture of the First Church and OBC.




  • Prepare for and lead worship at Sunday and Wednesday gatherings (Two Sunday morning services and mid-week Encounter worship services).
  • Design and develop a worship plan that considers message series, seasonal settings and annual themes.
  • Schedule and lead weekly band and vocal rehearsals.
  • Organize and manage all music resources. 
  • Identify, equip, develop and shepherd volunteers to grow in their gifts and abilities of leading worship and playing an instrument.  Recruit and train volunteers to run all aspects tied to media and worship arts for the weekend worship services and special events. Recruit and train volunteers to be equippers and multipliers.
  • Stay up to date with changes in technology and develop plans on how to best integrate that technology into our various worship services.
  • Give leadership to the stage design, and develop a team in developing the overall look and feel of the worship center/sanctuary.
  • This position reports directly to the Ministry Operations Pastor.
