Saint Peter’s is an Anglican church, but the candidate does not need to be Anglican. They must be able to embrace the fullness of liturgical service elements and unite it with contemporary music. This would involve everything from high-energy songs, to communion, to hymns, to readings and prayers. All elements of the worship service should work together as a journey. The ideal service would blend all these elements together seamlessly with smooth transitions in between. While taking each of these elements, the Worship Pastor must be able to lead the congregation through a journey of worship. They will be able to provide worship for the Sunday morning services, any mid-week services and any special events or services based on the liturgical calendar. Planning is important, but it is also important to have the ability to lead as the Spirit enables. This could mean a change of song or simply leading the congregation as you wait in His presence. Engaging the congregation and taking them on a journey of worship would be one of the first priorities of a new worship pastor.

Above all, Saint Peter’s is looking for a leader who is himself a worshipper, someone who is engaging and confident on stage, but also a good listener to the congregation. The ability to train others and build worship teams is essential. Leader: Saint Peter’s is a church longing to be lead. Engagement is only about 50-60%, and many of the youth do not attend Sunday mornings. When the congregation is lead, that percentage will increase. The staff believes there is a longing for worship. They are just not being given the right opportunity.

Communication: Planning services in advance, communicating with the worship team along with regular rehearsals and training would help prepare and provide effective leadership. This would begin with Senior Pastor TJ Johnston and planning the entire service, then communicated to the staff, and then the volunteers.

Preparation: Establishing a rehearsal schedule would be critical. Saint Peter’s currently only rehearses before the Sunday morning service. More extensive use of Planning Center will give the team all the information and tools that they need to be prepared for a rehearsal.

Development: There are three main areas that need addressed. The first is the youth. This is a prime area to develop new, young musicians that will provide exciting, youth-led worship. It also serves as a feeder to the adult service, and would better draw the youth to Sunday morning services. The second area is children’s ministry. A desire for children’s worship is a priority as Saint Peter’s matures in worship. The third area is in the continued development of adult worship leaders and musicians.

Creativity: Saint Peter’s is a unique church, bringing together the tradition of liturgy and the feel of today’s contemporary service. This opens the door to many creative ideas that would normally not be found in every church.

Your life will be immersed and rooted in the rhythms of life of Saint Peter’s Church. Saint Peter’s will honor your commitment to Christ and your family as priorities in your life. Saint Peter’s will encourage and expect from you a personal passion for Christ, a passion for personal worship, and a teachable spirit. Saint Peter’s will invest in your development as a leader, musician, and person.

Oversee and encourage the use of music and the arts in worship, outreach, and spiritual formation at Saint Peter’s Church. Lead the development of worship teams and worship resources for all our corporate worship opportunities within Saint Peter’s constellation of ministries and mission. Champion the development of production resources (and teams) to support worship in the ministries of Saint Peter’s Church. Shepherd, encourage and extend pastoral care to the worship and production team members. Create opportunities for music and the arts to be used as a tool for outreach and connection with those outside of the Saint Peter’s Church family.

Have a passion and competency to use many different genres of music from traditional to contemporary to lead worshipers on a journey of worship into the heart of God. Have a Bachelors’ degree, or the equivalent professional experience, and the capacity to lead and orchestrate other musicians. Have a strong musical ability with proficiency on an instrument, preferably a guitar, along with comparable vocal gifting. Experience in (or a willingness to learn) the historic worship of the church in a modern context.
