Director of Worship (Non-Traditional)


Main Goal:      Oversee and implement the worship design processes/systems to ensure excellent, high-quality worship and music for non-traditional worship through the coaching, discipleship and deployment of lay servant teams (praise band/musicians, vocalists, worship leaders, unpaid servant teams).

  • Model Christian lifestyle (devotional, worship, proportional giving/tithe, service/witness, dedication to personal development and healthy lifestyle)
  • Thoroughly Wesleyan in theology and practice




  • Proven track record of success in paid worship ministry position with the ability to lead/supervise staff and lay servant teams
  • Bachelor/s degree in music or equivalent experience preferred




  • Self-starter, able to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Vocal and instrumental expertise in leading excellent worship music
  • Ability to arrange and chart music helpful
  • Track record of successful recruiting/equipping/deploying of lay servant ministry teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of audio/sound systems helpful
  • Proficient using worship software (e.g. ProPresenter,




  • Supervise music staff and media tech (mentor, coach, set performance objectives and goals, hold accountable)
  • Coordinate the worship design processes, partner with the senior pastor and larger team to set/ensure vision, direction and implementation of all nontraditional music/worship services and initiatives
  • Oversee all elements of nontraditional worship (e.g. music, set design, technology)
  • Provide significant input/recommendations into the worship design process and featured music selections to be incorporated into worship services
  • Serve as primary worship leader for nontraditional services
  • Oversee/provide worship music for occasional church gatherings where non-traditional worship music is needed.
  • Oversee recruitment and development of worship teams
  • Oversee rehearsal and directing for all music worship teams
  • Ensure deeper discipling and leadership development of lay servants is an integral part of all aspects of this ministry area
  • Equip and inspire current music ministry participants to be the inviters/bringers of others into ministry
  • Maintain and function within the budget of all aspects of ministry (personnel, expenses, etc.)
  • Launch a second service in coordination with senior pastor
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the senior pastor
