St. Mark’s is a Lutheran congregation affiliated with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC). Its Lutheran history and heritage date back more than 125 years to 1886, when the congregation was founded. About the Position:

The position entitled Worship Leader / Director of High School Ministries will be a dual role, in which the candidate will offer leadership to the contemporary worship service called Impact, as the service’s primary worship leader on Sunday mornings as well as maintaining oversight of the high school ministry to students in grades 9-12.

In the primary role of Worship Leader, the candidate will lead members and guests of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in contemporary-style corporate worship through music. The primary goal of this role is to lead the congregation into an undeniable experience with God, inviting and teaching people to experience His presence, and fostering a heart of worship within the congregation, while effectively executing a role in worship leadership.

In the secondary role of Director of High School Ministries, the candidate will have the essential responsibilities of recruiting, training, and developing adult and student leaders who will intentionally reach and help high school students. This individual will also serve as a resource equipping parents to be the spiritual leaders of their homes, while leading each student toward spiritual maturity.


What We Are Searching For:

Worship Leader

  • Proven experience and maturity in musicianship complemented with cultural relevancy when leading congregation in worship.
  • Exceedingly skilled in worship leading vocally, and preferably on guitar or keyboard.
  • Commit to the vision, values, and essentials of St. Mark’s and the role of Impact worship leader.
  • Lead, coach, and hold individuals of the ministry accountable through relational leadership.
  • Demonstrated musical competency, with the ability to utilize musical talent and technical skills to lead and direct band and worship team.
  • Humility and an attitude of servanthood that is visible both upfront on stage and one-on-one with others.

Director of High School Ministries

  • At least 2 years full-time student ministry experience or equivalent.
  • A successful track record of leading a student ministry of 50 active-students or more.
  • Leadership, administration, teaching, and communication skills as well as strong relational abilities that translate to high school student demographic.
  • Strengths in recruitment, training and mobilization of staff and volunteers for ministry.
  • Computer training and experience with the internet, data systems, and MS Office and MS Publisher with a willingness to learn new technology.
  • Social media skills to communicate with parents and students.
  • A gifted and engaging speaker with the ability to relate to and engage high school students.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to students and their parents.

  • Preferably a 4-year degree from an accredited institution that has equipped candidate for vocational ministry.
  • A manager-leader with the strong ability to work in a multi-faceted environment.
  • Skills leading generationally diverse teams.

  • Identifying potential and developing people and their skills.
  • A strong ability to communicate and implement vision
  • Building teams and developing future leadership.
  • Skilled in written and verbal communication.

  • Practice discernment, wisdom, order, and structure in leading people.
  • Personify spirit of flexibility with willingness to accept, navigate, and lead through multiple responsibilities and change.
