Job Description:

Job Summary: build, care for and lead the volunteer team by example how to disciple elementary-aged children into a thriving relationship with Christ
Oversees: Kindergarten - 5th Grade
Time requirements: 40 hours/week, Weekends are required

Primary Responsibilities:
1. BUILD TEAM: recruit, woo, and train adults and teens to be excellent leaders of children
2. CARE FOR TEAM: help volunteers feel known and valued by building relationships with them, setting up systems of care, and creating community amongst volunteer leaders
3. LEAD BY EXAMPLE: show volunteers what is expected of them by doing it first such as teaching children from the stage, coaching volunteers, interacting with parents, being present in halls, etc.

• Personally oversee the quality and effectiveness of all weekly large group gatherings (storytelling and worship)
• Personally dig into weekly curriculum, ensuring theological accuracy and ease of implementation for volunteers
• Be present in kids ministry hallways for 2 out of 3 worship services every weekend, while attending one yourself
• Leverage all resources provided by the Rethink Group including parent resources, kids resources, and social media strategies
• Contribute to all church pastoral opportunities like baptisms, baby dedications, walk in coverage, and all staff functions like Christmas and Easter
• Collaborate with full Next Gen team to ensure smooth handoff and strategy between kids and student ministries
• Attendance of weekly staff meetings, weekly department meetings, weekly team meetings
• Oversee Kids Ministry budget

• at least a bachelor’s degree in Bible or education (some seminary education preferred)
• well versed in the Orange kids ministry strategy
• above average people skills with adults
• excellent ability to communicate both in person and electronically
• proven track record of building healthy teams
• high confidence in managing complexity
• at least 2 years of leading a children’s ministry in a church of 1000+
