Throughout its history since inception in 1962, the church has been driven by new risks and adventures for the purpose of taking its vision to the next level. It has compelled SBC to build a healthy, growing congregation with enlarged hearts to reach Arizona
Today, SBC is achieving record attendance, averaging 7,000 each week during the high season of January through March. SBC is intentional about reaching out to families who do not yet attend church—specifically, the 87% of the people in the Scottsdale area
who are unchurched, or needing to grow in their spiritual maturity. This intentionality extends beyond the local community and to the far reaches of the world. SBC is deliberate about serving and embracing everyone in a biblically mandated manner, recognizing
that Jesus saw and sees through the eyes of love to all.
Student Ministry at Scottsdale Bible Church desires to intentionally create a culture of evangelism and discipleship for students focusing on authentic community and a genuine love for God. It challenges students through expository bible teaching, relational
discipleship, weekly campus outreach (Food and Fellowship), community worship, and service opportunities to reach the world.
Due to the rapid expansion at SBC and the Scottsdale area, there is an opportunity for a talented visionary leader to capitalize on the past growth and take the Student Ministry to the next level. SBC has a strong tradition of valuing Student Ministry as
an integral part of the overarching strategy.
The Student Ministry Pastor is responsible for implementing a growing vision for the Student Ministry that supports the broader vision of the church, and is responsible for acquiring and developing the staff, volunteers, and other resources necessary to
support that vision. Additionally, the Student Ministry pastor will also fill the role of High School Ministry pastor. SBC has existing programs for this age group, and initially the High School Pastor will develop ways to strengthen these programs. Over time,
the Student Ministry/High School Pastor will certainly have their “fingerprints” all over the ministry area as they continue to work with SBC leadership and the Student Ministry team. This individual’s scope of experience will include, but not limited to:
- A proven track record, preferably in fulltime ministry with emphasis in Youth, Family, or related ?ministry. Significant long-term lay or volunteer experience within a vibrant student ministry will?be considered. ?
- Demonstrated experience in leading a ministry/organization with 100+ participants at a church ?with a congregation over 1200. ?
- In conjunction with peer leadership, an ability to develop a scope and sequence determining ?measurable benchmarks and overall outcomes (based on spiritual/biblical ideals) for students. ?
- A proven and quantifiable history of methodology and success in developing and implementing ?a viable staff and volunteer recruitment process. ?
A bachelors degree in the fields of Theology, Bible, Ministry, Child Development, Education, Business, ?Recreation Administration, Non-profit leadership, or related is required, although a masters and/or seminary degree is a plus.
