Good Shepherd Church is a modern, evangelical congregation of 2,000 plus in attendance each weekend in Charlotte, NC with a mission to invite all people into a living relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Director of Communications is a passionate, mission-minded individual with a deep understanding of branding, creative design and communication strategies. The Director will effectively tell the story of what God is doing through Good Shepherd while leveraging a variety of mediums that push the edge of cultural relevancy.

 

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain communication strategies to promote Good Shepherd events through print material, web and social media platforms
  • Continue to develop the look, vibe and brand of Good Shepherd to ensure it remains modern, professional and culturally relevant
  • Oversee the design of all art, graphics and promotional materials related to church-wide activities with a high standard of creativity, excellence and effectiveness
  • Support the various departments of Good Shepherd by brainstorming communication strategies, presenting concepts and overseeing execution of campaigns
  • Work closely with the Worship Arts department to develop communication elements including videos, announcements, and slides.
  • Listen for stories of life-change within the church and develop ways to creatively communicate those stories within the church and broader community
  • Oversee the Good Shepherd website and future mobile app

 

Position Requirements

  • Deeply committed follower of Jesus
  • Affirms Good Shepherd’s core beliefs, mission, values and life practices by word and example
  • Strong understanding of brand management
  • Ability to carry out the communication vision while keeping it fresh and relevant
  • Ideally has 3-5 years of marketing leadership experience
  • Prefer 3-5 years of experience working in a church of 1,000 or more
  • Effective administrative skills including the ability to set goals, facilitate advance planning and effectively manage ministry schedules
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Team player that is humble, willing to defer to others, and supportive of other ministries

 

Technical Skills

  • Fluent with Adobe Creative Cloud/Suite or related design software
  • Understands Website development and administration of Content Management Systems
  • Comfortable in both a PC and MAC environments
  • Understands relevant social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Snapchat, Instagram)
  • Skilled at setting up presentations in ProPresenter, Powerpoint and KeyNote
