The Chapel is a community of people who are learning to live the ways, words, and works of Jesus in their world. Driven by a multisite vision, The Chapel functions largely within a structure of campuses. Sustaining 8 campuses encompassing the northern and northwestern region of Chicago, each campus community uniquely relates to their region while executing the overall vision and implementing the mission of the church. Although defined by campuses, the entire community of The Chapel from its leadership to attendees cohesively relate to each other as a church ‘family’.

Scott Chapman, whose passion is the local church, leads the ministry of The Chapel. Scott fervently believes that when God looks down from heaven, he doesn't see many churches, but one Church gathering in many locations. His desire is that the many members of the one Church will partner together to see a widespread spiritual awakening.

The Lead Worship Pastor/Head of School of Worship will champion The Chapel’s DNA by dynamically and effectively casting vision for church-wide worship, maximizing the effectiveness of the weekend experience by drawing people into the presence of God through powerful worship, leading and shepherding campus Worship Pastors and worship teams, overseeing all aspects of worship planning and execution, communicating effectively with worship team volunteers, and serving as a key contributor to ministries that support The Chapel’s vision for worship. This will be accomplished by encompassing two areas of worship leadership oversight: (1) leading all aspects of worship as the Worship Pastor at the Libertyville campus of The Chapel and (2) serving as the Head of the School of Worship at The Chapel.

The successful candidate will infuse a spirit of worship into The Chapel community, and lead the church’s culture of worship with a high degree of ownership. Within the context of worship leadership, this individual will mindfully sustain the highly valued attribute of honor at The Chapel, and persistently communicate a vision for the house in all areas of responsibility.

While education is not a predetermining factor for this position, a degree in music or a related field is preferred. 5+ years of leading worship in a larger setting, multi-site experience will be a highly preferable qualifier as well. The ideal candidate will have previously taught in a School of Worship (ie. Bethel, Hillsong, Elevation). They will be an extremely intuitive worship leader, with systems in place, and qualities that display spirit-led worship. A high sense of self-awareness and collaborative decision making skills will be imperative in this role.

Libertyville is a part of the greater metroplex of Chicago, the third-most populous city in the United States (after New York City and Los Angeles), containing 2.7 million residents. In addition to its renowned upscale establishments and restaurant districts, the city's unique location on Lake Michigan, its rich architectural heritage, its lively theater, arts, and comedy community, and its vibrant nightlife attracts residents and tourists alike. Chicago is the third-largest convention destination in the United States, and the fourth-most ‘walkable’ city of the fifty largest cities in the United States (2011, Walk Score). The sprawling Chicagoland transit system makes it possible to hop on a train in the suburbs and travel to the heart of the city of Chicago in less than an hour, any day of the week. The city is home to numerous major-league sports teams, world-class museums, and the Magnificent Mile shopping district—all along the beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline, creating an atmosphere not soon to be forgotten.
