Employer:  Gateway EduCare, Christian Child Care Center

Title:  Executive Director

Accountability:  Reports to the Gateway EduCare Board and Gateway’s Senior Pastor

Status: Full Time, Year around program

Denominational: Christian Reformed Church of North America


Job Description:

The Executive Director of EduCare seeks to lead the staff in fulfilling EduCare's mission and is responsible for directing the center to advance God's purposes by developing opportunities for all whom EduCare serves. EduCare is a year round Christian-based Child Development Center serving families in Merced County.


Director Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and welcoming Christian preschool setting while administering relevant curriculum and activities to engage and educate young children.

  • Maintaining a loving and nurturing Christian learning environment for children, while meeting or exceeding business, administration, meal programs, marketing and financial goals and objectives.

  • Develop open lines of communication with staff, parents, and children and participate in one-on-one meetings with parents to discuss each child’s progress.

  • Build and support a qualified team of childcare educators to promote our superior reputation in early childhood Christian education.

  • Ensure full compliance with policies as well as federal, state, and center standards, regulations, and requirements including licensing, safety, and sanitation and record keeping.

  • Prepare and present to the EduCare board administrative and business reports.

  • Participate in marketing events, campaigns, and community relations.

  • Stay current of new developments in the field of early childhood development

  • Seek grants, funding, and beneficial collaborations with the community and local school districts


Director Qualifications:

  • AA Degree in Child Development, plus 3 units of administration and 3 units related to infant/toddler courses and 2 years teaching experience

  • Or  BA Degree in Child Development, plus 3 units of administration and 3 units related to infant/toddler courses and 1 year teaching experience

  • Or  a valid and current Site Supervisor Permit or Program Director, with 3 units of infant/toddler related courses

  • A successful clearance of a DOJ and FBI Background check by EduCare.

  • A current, or in process, member of Gateway Community Church; as well as a willingness to be supportive of and submit to the leadership of Gateway.
