Job Description:

The Children’s Ministry Director is a part-time (15 hour per week) position leading Village Church Chicago’s Children’s Ministry. This person is responsible for all aspects of our children’s ministry including (1) Sunday Children’s Church -- infant through 2nd grade (2)  Friday Night Out, our Friday night kids outreach ministry and (3) any special kids events. We are looking for a director who loves children, is driven by a passion to reach the lost, believes the best way to reach parents is through loving their children, and thinks/willing to minister beyond the walls of the church.  

 

The Church:

Village Church Chicago is a new church plant in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood of Chicago that will be starting services in January of 2017.  We are looking to hire a Children's Director this December. For more information about our church check out our website: villagechurchchicago.org

 

Full-Time Option:

If the applicant is willing to fundraise part of their salary, we would love to hire them on full-time (fundraising training/ongoing coaching would be provided).  In that case, additional responsibilities would be assigned based on interests and gifting.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide vision and branding for all aspects of Village Church’s Children’s Ministry
  • Oversee all curriculum for children’s ministry
  • Lead children’s ministry lessons and meetings
  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for Sunday Children’s Church and Friday Night Out
  • Process all new volunteers including interviews, background/reference checks, and training
  • Identify key volunteer leaders to build into and work alongside you
  • Manage administrative tasks to keep ministry organized and volunteers prepared/informed
  • Build relationships with parents and teach them how to disciple their children
  • Create a welcoming, calm, safe, and hospitable environment for check-in area
  • Attend weekly coaching and update meeting with lead pastor

 

Required Experience and Skills

  • Must have previous experience with children including but not limited to: formal ministry role, educational position, volunteer in children’s ministry, nanny, camp counselor, or any informal experience (i.e. parent, baby sitter, taking care of younger family members or relatives, other)
  • Must be strongly detail-oriented, comfortable taking initiative, self-motivated, and dependable
  • Ability to lead, recruit, and manage a team
  • Strong verbal communication skills both written and in-person
  • Strong teamwork skills; ability to work cooperatively and jointly with coworkers, volunteers, and leaders
  • Ability to problem-solve, identify areas of improvement, and take constructive criticism
  • Ability to manage time, schedule, and projects in a timely manner

 

Personal Requirements

  • Be intentionally fostering a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through your time in the Bible, prayer, and Christian community
  • Live a life consistent with qualities laid out in 1 Timothy 3 for a deacon
  • Reflect Christ in your words and actions in your personal life and ministry. You will be looked up to as you model the Christian faith, and the way you live your life should reflect the Gospel (Living lives of holiness, purity, and free from addictions).
  • Live in or willingness to move within the city limits of Chicago
