Job Description:

To minister the Kingdom of God to children newborn through 5th grade in order for them to grow into the image of Christ. To fan the flame of revival in these children, equipping them to minister to others. To develop, cast vision, and administer effective ministries designed to meet the spiritual, social and emotional needs of the children of CAG. To create sustainable outreach methods to our surrounding communities. To oversee, lead and develop a team of leaders and volunteers who implement the vision of our Children’s Ministry.





  • Be fully engaged and committed to the mission and vision of Central
  • Participate in all Ministry Team meetings and retreats as directed
  • Participate in all church services and prayer meetings
  • Be actively involved in discipleship with new believers, volunteers and leaders
  • Provide all pastoral functions, including hospital visitation, pastor-on-call, weddings & funerals
  • Contribute ideas & planning to the Next Generation Team
  • Perform other duties as determined essential by Lead Pastor


  • Primary leader and communicator for entire children’s ministry (6 weeks old – 5th grade)
  • Cultivate a revival lifestyle in children by equipping them to minister to others with the expectation of supernatural results
  • Recruit, equip and oversee upper levels of leadership, who recruit, equip and oversee their own specific teams and departments
  • Lead a team in planning & conducting a comprehensive children’s ministry including specific directors for each department; nursery, preschool, Sunday School, Elementary (Super Church), Wednesday night ministries (Rainbows, M-Pact Club & Royal Rangers), Junior Bible Quiz, Outreach Events, special services, VBS, etc.
  • Connect appropriately with the children, demonstrating Biblical love, compassion and concern
  • Be aggressive at addressing the real issues that today’s children face, emphasizing the reality that there is no junior Holy Spirit, so nothing is impossible with God
  • Develop, research, and approve curricula for age-appropriate discipleship and student leadership
  • Develop a comprehensive plan for assimilation of newcomers & new believers (children only)
  • Generate active missions involvement by including children in evangelism and outreach
  • Ensure that children are fully integrated with the church-at-large
  • Oversee outreach events (i.e. Egg Hunt, VBS, Fall Event, Christmas Event) that aim to connect community children and families to the Lord and to Central
  • Provide special opportunities for children to encounter God through events, retreats and camps
  • Create and enforce policies and procedures to provide a safe and secure environment
  • Teach the elementary-aged chapel weekly at Central Christian Academy (Sept. – May)
  • Act as liaison and spiritual advisor to the families of our school and day care.


  • Create healthy partnerships with parents / guardians to equip them to disciple their child
  • Promote regular parenting classes with a Biblical approach to raising children
  • Communicate relevant family and parenting resources (i.e. websites, magazines, devotionals, social media, etc.) to active church families



  • Vibrant personality that demonstrates natural magnetism with children
  • Ability to cast vision, develop leadership and motivate children to lead among peers
  • Gifted teacher, including passion, creativity and connectivity
  • Able to multi-task and maintain composure under pressure
  • College bachelor’s degree desired
  • Ministry Credentials with Assemblies of God desired, or willingness to work toward
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in children’s ministry, paid or volunteer
  • Must evidence the biblical pastoral qualifications (Titus 1:6-9; 1 Timothy3: 1-7) and agree to the Constitution and By-Laws of Central Assembly of God
  • Demonstrate cooperative team based attitude


  • Salary based on experience and preparedness 
  • Full time, salary plus benefits, exempt
  • 40-50 hours/week minimum 
  • One weekday off per week, excluding special events and services 
  • Weekend Schedule: Attend and serve at all worship and special services, including whole-church events, outreach events, etc.
  • On-call as part of a rotation in evenings and weekends
