Job Title

Children & Family Ministries Director

Position reports to:

Senior Pastor



Salary range:

$32,000 – $35,000

Employment Status

Salary, full-time; exempt (45-50 hours/week)


Position Overview

The Children and Family Ministries Director loves, equips and engages with children and their families to become disciples who make disciples.


Responsibilities of Position

1)    Children and Families (40%)

a)     Provides general coordination among children’s ministries.

b)     Partners with the Associate Pastor and Director of Assimilation and Discipleship to ensure that families become connected within the 3 in 3 vision/core commitments.

c)     Intentionally connects and engages with visiting, new and attending families with children.

d)     Equips parents in the spiritual formation of their children.


2)    Curriculum and Training (40%)

a)     Evaluates and selects effective curricula for all children’s ministries.

b)     Provides training for children’s ministry volunteers and staff.

c)     Continually pursues leadership training and ministry and curriculum trends.

d)     Partners and/or leads in the development, oversight, evaluation, and staffing in all areas of children’s ministry.


3)    Administration (20%)

a)     Establishes ministry goals and objectives by prioritizing programs, managing the use of facilities, planning an appropriate budget, delegating tasks, and evaluating progress regularly under the direction of the Senior Pastor.

b)     Serves as an advisor to the Christian Education Board.

c)     Attends weekly staff meetings.

d)     Oversees the Children’s Ministry Serve Coordinator. 



1)    Core Beliefs/Lifestyle

a)     Believes in the necessity of personal conversion to Christ as Savior and committed discipleship.

b)     Exhibits attitudes and behaviors guided by Biblical principles as well as a strong devotional and prayer life.

c)     Believes in and supports the CBC doctrine statements (vision/core values, Constitution and Bylaws, Covenant, and Affirmation of Faith).

d)     Agrees to CBC Leadership Integrity Covenant.

e)     Demonstrates love and inherent grace in relationship to God and His people.

f)      Demonstrates an energy and passion for children and families, and their personal and family faith journey.


2)    Education

a)     Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or equivalent degree in education, counseling or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.

b)     Some training in child development preferred.


3)    Experience

a)     Previous experience in children’s and/or family ministry.

b)     Previous experience as an administrator sufficient to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

c)     Counseling experience a plus.


4)    Skills

a)     Proven effective communicator, both as listener and speaker.

b)     The ability to strategically and realistically consider both opportunities and challenges from a Biblical perspective and take appropriate action.

c)     Ability to implement current technology for Cornerstone Baptist Church’s ministries.

d)     Able to build teams for ministry.

e)     Knowledge of current Microsoft Office suite (2010/2013), presentation media (i.e. Pro Presenter, Media Shout, etc.), Adobe Reader/Acrobat, etc.
