Central Wesleyan Church is a place that proclaims the gospel of Jesus Christ. What began as a mission in 1896, today, is a multi-site church of over 4,000 that continues to rapidly grow in attendance. As a Wesleyan church in a strong district that empowers leaders and encourages innovation, it is known to have the largest moving LED video wall among all the churches in the United States, which has proven to be an invaluable illustrative tool for teachers. With a strong dedication to evangelism and creating community, Central is enjoying a new season of growth and expansion under the leadership of Lead Pastor Craig Rees.

Providing extensive leadership in areas of teaching and discipleship, the next Teaching Pastor of Central Wesleyan will be able to thrive in a large, multi-faceted, creative, and out of the box environment. This individual will be a seamless fit to the team-driven, yet, leadership empowering environment. He/she will be a member of the executive team, and will focus significant energy throughout the week to management and visionary tasks. An undergraduate degree is required for this position, although a master’s degree from an accredited Bible college or seminary is preferred. The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in teaching in a church of around one thousand people.
  • A proven track record of working in a relationally focused, discipleship context.
  • A commitment to the pursuit of a missional ecclesiology, which is understood as putting the mission of Christ and the proclamation of the good news as the goal and motivation for discipleship.
  • Experience working in a large team.
  • Be committed to the message more than the messenger, and delight in seeing others rise from within and below.
  • A high degree of effectiveness in working and communicating in a multi-staff setting.

The Teaching Pastor will be deemed successful when he/she is personally growing in their relationship with God, deepening in their knowledge of Him and others, living out their faith in community, committed to integrity, and reproducing the Christ in them to others.
