CLASS TITLE: ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF CARE MINISTRIES
To provide support to the Lead Pastor (whose primary calling is to steward the message, mission and vision of Trinity), session and congregation in the areas articulated below. In conjunction with the Lead Pastor’s direction and vision, and in collaboration
with other senior leadership “LEAD” team members, the Associate Pastor will work cooperatively with the appropriate ministry team members and staff to carry out the goals of Trinity’s session and perform regular pastoral duties.
Perform general pastoral duties as teaching elder and installed ECO* Minister of the Word and Sacrament as directed by the Lead Pastor including participation in worship, celebration of the Sacraments, and other duties as directed
Provide congregational and staff team leadership in a collaborative relationship with the Lead Pastor, Pastoral LEAD team and staff -- ensuring good communication with pastors, and integration with staff members and the congregation
Provide pastoral visitation to those in need; teach, train and empower ministry partners to participate in congregational visitation; equip ministry and support teams to extend care in their various ministries
Meet regularly with and provide life-skill training and pastoral direction to the Board of Deacons and their ministry teams as they respond to the spiritual, emotional and physical needs within the congregation
Serve as the primary staff representative and provide creative leadership and direction to the following ministries: The Samaritan Care Center; The Stephen Ministry; The Prayer Ministry Team; the Disabilities Team, the Health Ministry Team (along with the
Parish Nurse), Prime Timers Ministry to seniors, and the various Support Group Ministries – Grief/Share; Divorce/Care; Military Support, etc.
Supervise and meet regularly with the Pastoral Care staff (Parish Associate and Parish Nurse-contractor) to ensure efficiency in congregational care and accountability
in the pastoral duties required.
Oversee the Counseling Ministry provided for members of the congregation needing assistance. Serve as a teaching elder representative for Trinity by joining with other churches in our presbytery/denomination to achieve ECO’s missional goals
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
The person in this position will be expected to have previously embraced ECO’s Essential Tenets and the confessional standards of Christian faith as delineated in our ECO denomination’s key statements on polity and ordination. * This includes a personal
belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Knowledge of the Bible is assumed, and a demonstrably Christian lifestyle appropriate. It is expected that the person conforms to the ordination standards of our denomination.

Develop, plan and teach biblically-based adult classes and programs
Interpret the biblical, theological and strategic nature of God’s activity in the world, Trinity’s partnership efforts, and the mission work of the Church
Learn the organization, operations, programs and activities of the Church
Direct, manage, and develop administrative and program staff members
Manage personnel and program budgets
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Participate in developing and promoting the strategic priorities, vision and direction for the Church
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
Work comfortably, effectively and efficiently in formal and informal settings
Work independently with little direction

Maintain records and files
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a Masters of Divinity from an accredited seminary is required in addition to ordination as a minister of the Word and Sacrament with at least five years of ministry experience
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be ordained or qualified to be ordained in ECO*
Valid California driver’s license
