Cornwall Church is ONE church in TWO locations. This position is at our campus location in Mount Vernon, WA – apx. 30 minutes south of our main campus in Bellingham, WA. Both churches are in uniquely unchurched cultures, so to that end, Cornwall is laser
focused on altering the spiritual landscape, one life at a time. Cornwall Church has been certified as a Best Christian Workplace in 2016 and we are continually striving to be a workplace where people absolutely love what they are doing and who they are doing
it with. We wholeheartedly believe in team collaboration among our staff and between our two campuses.
MOUNT VERNON CAMPUS
As mentioned above, this position is at our Mount Vernon Campus, which is significantly smaller than our main campus in Bellingham. We currently average 100 adults on a Sunday and growing. We meet in a Christian school - and setup and tear down is the responsibility
of the church - its staff and volunteers. Our service is all live on stage with exception to the sermon, which is provided via video on big screens. As a video venue, it's paramount that all other components to a Sunday morning are top notch.
The Worship Director is tasked with providing an authentic, distraction-free time of worship at Cornwall Church's Mount Vernon campus for both the first-time visitor to the long-time attender. The Worship Director will collaborate weekly with the Campus
Pastor to ensure the sermon is effectively setup, and the overall service meets the focus for the gathering. You would join our Mount Vernon campus team – led by our Campus Pastor, along with our Children’s Director and Tech Director – while collaborating
with our main campus Worship Director and CAM (Creative Arts Ministry) team.
The Worship Director is responsible for:
- Preparing song sets and creating corresponding slides using ProPresenter;
- Leading a midweek and Sunday morning rehearsal and leading worship during our ONE service.
- Coordinating and connecting with worship teams … on Sundays, but also taking in account the spiritual health and wellbeing of team members – which includes rotating people at a healthy rate, and spending time throughout the week to 'check in' on the team.
Striving for distraction-free worship is the ideal, but not at the cost of grace, and love.
- At present, our Mount Vernon campus is a portable church, so setup and teardown is part of the job responsibility.
This position is based on 10 hours a week. Based on the candidate’s experience and passion, additional hours may be possible to assist with campus ministry (i.e. youth, small groups, college, etc.).
