CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR
Dayspring Community Church of Auburn, IN
Dayspring’s Director of Children’s Ministries (DCM) will provide leadership, vision, and organization to our children’s area birth through fifth grade. We are not primarily looking for a children’s worker but rather a leader of children’s workers. Dayspring’s
DCM must be able to recruit, inspire, train, and shepherd volunteers to create excellent, life-changing teaching and experiences for kids. This person must also build processes and systems that will enable our children’s ministries to grow in size and effectiveness.
To that end we need a …
God’s Kingdom work at Dayspring is built around volunteers. One of the most important tasks of Dayspring’s DCM is to lead and support volunteers. We expect the DCM to be the main teacher in a children’s room no more than 50% of weekends.
Dayspring Kids is built around weekend group experiences. DCM will be responsible for ensuring that excellent, fun, interactive, age-appropriate curriculum is the standard for all of Dayspring Kids.
The DCM’s role is not to “do” all ministry but rather to build a team of volunteers to minister to students and families. This includes building a Children’s Ministry leadership team as well as volunteer leaders and teams to execute all relevant tasks, including,
but not limited to, teaching, set up/tear down, cleaning, craft preparation, etc. The DCM remains responsible to ensure that all necessary ministry tasks are completed.
STAFF TEAM MEMBER
As part of the staff team, the DCM may be asked to participate in tasks that are not clearly spelled out in the job description. These assignments may not always fall within areas of giftedness/passion.
DCM will plan and administer the Dayspring Kids budget and will be responsible for giving overall organization and structure to all of Dayspring Kids.
PASTORAL CARE GIVER
The DCM is the primary pastoral care giver for volunteers involved in Dayspring Kids. From time to time pastoral care work outside of normal areas of responsibility may be necessary.
Our new DCM must be …
--passionate about helping kids know and grow in Christ.
--an outstanding leader of adult volunteers.
--knowledgeable about early childhood education.
--someone who can inspire others to accomplish a vision.
Relationships in the Community
We will expect the DCM to live within a roughly ten mile radius of DCC’s building. We place a high value on building relationships with lost people; all staff are expected to live out this value. This provides a positive model for our congregation and keeps
us mindful of the life issues that seekers are concerned with so that our ministries remain relevant.
The DCM will report directly to the executive pastor. The DCM and EP will meet weekly for coaching. A comprehensive performance review and evaluation will be conducted yearly. Because we value team ministry at DCC, many major decisions are made by the
Leadership Team, of which the DCM would be a member.
Participation of Spouse and Families
The person described in this document is the only person hired for this position; there is no hidden expectation for staff spouses or families. We expect family members to be involved in ministry at Dayspring in accordance with gifts, passion, and schedule.
We expect full time pastoral staff to work a minimum of 45 hours weekly. Dayspring’s office will be the normal location for most weekday work. While ministry hours are flexible, the DCM will typically be expected to keep a consistent work schedule.
All full time pastoral staff, including DCM, receive benefits which include long term disability (subject to eligibility), health insurance, employer contributions to HSA, employer contributions to retirement, and annual expense accounts for professional
expenses and continuing education.

• Excellent computer, written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, able to practice confidentiality, self-motivated and a team player.
