Minister of Outreach and Missions - South Carolina

We are working with a large and growing Southern Baptist Church in South Carolina that is seeking a Minister of Outreach and Missions to lead comprehensive church-wide evangelism and missions programs, including staffing, training, promoting and administering these four key areas:

 

Guest Services

Evangelism

Global Missions

Local Missions

 

Position Specifications:

  • Must be a believer in Jesus Christ and an active member of a church of similar faith and beliefs.

  • Must be called by the Holy Spirit to serve as a Minister of Outreach/Missions and trained to serve in the capacity to which he is called.

  • Applicable Seminary degree and three or more years of related experience or the equivalent.

  • Must have successful experience leading volunteers to accomplish the goals of the assigned ministries.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, including selecting and using effective creative teaching methods.

  • Must possess training and development skills, including curriculum development experience.

  • Experience must include financial planning and management and program development and execution.

  • Must be highly ethical and able to process highly sensitive information.

  • Action and goal oriented.

  • Must excel in ministry commitment, conduct and professionalism.

  • Must be team-oriented manager with the ability to design, implement and grow assigned ministries.

  • Must be able to make effective, consultative and proactive decisions in her/his area of responsibility.

  • Must be willing to establish performance measurements and be accountable for expected results.

 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, administer and evaluate a comprehensive Outreach/Missions program that reaches, teaches and matures people for Christ.

  • Create, design, implement and oversee quality-training programs designed to equip and inspire volunteers to effectively share their faith effectively, invite others to the church and engage in Kingdom service (both locally and globally).

  • Skilled in personal evangelism and be a personal soul winner.

  • Manage the day-to-day and long-range financial, administrative, and human resource aspects of the assigned ministries. Ensure that appropriate administrative systems are up-to-date and efficient, and Church policies and procedures are followed.

  • Provide oversight, leadership and training for Guest Services Ministry as it pertains to the church’s outreach and assimilation of first-time and regular guests.

  • Develop effective communications with staff, volunteers and potential volunteers.

  • Supervise support staff.  In agreement with the Executive Pastor, rate performance, make recommendations for wage adjustments, select personnel, resolve personnel problems, assign or redefine duties, etc.

  • Provide staff supervision to assigned committees.  Clearly define and communicate the responsibilities and purposes of each assigned committee and its members.

  • Serve as a counselor to church members or others experiencing spiritual problems. May officiate at weddings, funerals, etc.
